I have the same problem with my a707, but usually only after the phone has been turned off or lost power. All I do is pop the card out, then push it back in. The phone then recognizes the card and takes its sweet time reading it (2GB) before letting me go on to "My Stuff"!

Do you have a card reader in your pc that you can put the card in?  And of course the adapter to convert microsd to sd card size?  If so then just put the card in pc, right click on the icon when it appears in your "My Computer" folder, left click "format" and format the card there.  It's possible that the data on the card got corrupted somehow and maybe why the phone is having trouble reading or reformatting it.  If the card still doesn't seem to work after putting songs or pictures on it, try using the card in a compatible mp3 player or a friend's phone with a microsd card to see if the card works, if it does then the problem is probably with your phone.  I have heard about compatibility problems with some phones and certain brands of microsd cards, not sure if this is one of them.  Hope this helps.

I have an samsgha707-e4rd-att with an 8GB micro SD i downloaded music on it and when i go to use it it says memory card has an unrecognized format reformating will erase all data reformat now reformat now...

according to this article http://www.tech-faq.com/samsung-sync-sgh-a707.html I believe it will only go up to 2GB. That or the music files you put on there have to be in a different format. Most likely the first option though. Hope this helps, be sure to rate how i did

My cell phone micro sd card says memory card has an unrecognized format and that reformatting will erase the data what do i do and how do i reformat and not lose the data i don't know how to reformat

Do you have a memory card reader for your PC, try to borrow one from a friend and check if you can read data off the card. If you can then make a backup of the data and then format the card to FAT32 as i think you have formatted the card to NTFS which is a file system native to windows and will not work with mobile phones. The best option would be to format the card on the phone itself after data backup as it will assure compatibility with itself.

Issue: Memory card Error
Solution: Try a different memory card and/or Reformat memory card PowerShot A70

Formatting a CF Card You should always format a new CF card or one from which you wish to erase all images and other data.
caution_a70.gifPlease note that formatting a CF card erases all data, including protected images and other file types. Please check the contents of the CF card before formatting it.
  1. Turn the power on.

  2. Press the <MENU> button and select [ tools_icon.gif(Set up)] using direction_arrow_lt.gifor direction_arrow_rt.gif.

    format_menu_1.gif

  3. Select format_icon_a70.gif(Format) using direction_arrow_up.gifor direction_arrow_down.gifand press the <SET> button.

    format_menu_2.gif

  4. Select [OK] using direction_arrow_lt.gifor direction_arrow_rt.gifand press the <SET> button.

    format_menu_3.gif

    • To cancel formatting instead, select [Cancel] and press the <SET> button.
    • The capacity of the CF card displayed after formatting will be less than the rated capacity of the CF card. This is not a malfunction of the CF card or camera.

  5. Press the <MENU> button.
note_icon_a70.gif
  • If the camera does not work properly, the inserted CF card may be malfunctioning. Reformatting the CF card may solve the problem.
  • When a non-Canon brand CF card is malfunctioning, reformatting it may solve the problem.
  • CF cards formatted in another camera, computer or peripheral device may not operate correctly. When that happens, reformat the CF card with this camera.

My phone can't read the memory card.it gives me this message (memory card has an unrecognised format. Reformattingvwill erase all data.

If the memory card worked before with your phone, then suddenly became unrecognized, then the memory card probably got corrupted.

The best thing that you may try is to insert the card to another phone and connect it to a different computer. There are times that another computer recognizes the card with this kind of problem.

If a different computer recognizes your card, immediately back-up the files, then reformat your memory card. However, if the same problem occur on different computer, then there's nothing that we could do but to reformat it.

Whether you reformat it or not, you could no longer recover the files if it's still unrecognized.

Thank you and good luck!

Please try reformatting the memory card before transferring data to it. Card format could be incompatible with your phone. You may find Reformat option in one of the utility menus of your phone.

The card is there, but it's not being read

The MMC cards should always be formatted to suite the file system of the device, so its recommended that you format the MMC card using the device on which you want to use it.If you formatted it using a PC you must select the appropriate format while formatting it.
