I forgot the parental control password for my Toshiba television. I have surf the net trying to find how to reset the v-chip, but no luck so far. Please help.
Thanks
I GOT IT! I found a past posting here in TECHLORE.COM dated 9/3/2005. The TV was a Toshiba model #MD13P1 and the V-CHIP was bypassed holding down the VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the ZERO key on the REMOTE control. Also, I found in the internet a Toshiba Service Instruction specifications sheet with the same process for different models #?s. It seems that this process of bypassing a forgotten V-CHIP password key is the same for quite a few Toshiba?s models. On TV model #MD14FN1, the one I have, you can set two passwords, one to set the V-CHIP password in TV MODE, and the second one to set the Parental Control password in DVD mode. To bypass/override the V-CHIP password see the see explanation above, and to clear the forgotten parental control password (DVD mode) you need to hold down the VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the FOUR key on the REMOTE until the message ?Initialize5 Complete? appears on the TV screen. After that, you can set the new parental password. I found the parental control process by trail/error I hope that this is clear enough.I GOT IT! I just want to say thank you for the solution, once I realized I had to use the volume on the set rather than the remote, it worked beautifully!

RCA TV Parental Reset Code: First select parental control from the menu. You will be asked to enter your password. Press and hold the "volume +" and "channel +" buttons on your television (not the remote) for 8 seconds. You will see a message that the parental controls have been unlocked.
i have an insignia hdtv and the manual says if you forgot the password, enter in 3448 in the password box to reset, it might be the same for yours, good luck
I had the same problem. Here's what Toshiba emailed to me:
Disconnect the AC power for at least one minute to reset the clock.
Adjust the volume to the minimum using the Volume down button on the front of the unit.
Press and hold the Volume down button on the front of the unit and the 0 button on the remote control at the same time, holding them down for at least 10 seconds.
The user menu will appear with the V-Chip cursor blinking.
Press the ENTER key on the remote control and the NEW PASSWORD menu will appear.
