You can clean them with household units but even professionals have trouble with berber carpet because of its tight weave and usual inlaid patterns. Dry carpet cleaning between professional cleanings will help keep carpet looking new without staining. My suggestion is to use a dry carpet cleaning machine and then have a professional come in with hot water extract as often as every year depending on traffic. I sell the SEBO DUO machine you can see by clicking the link provided.

I am having a problem getting one of my brushes off. The other 2 came off very easily. Is there a trick to romoving them? Also, do I use the knaplifters before or after shampooing?

This is the Floor Pro for those wondering.
Generally, giving the brushes a quick tug with a counter-clockwise twist will get them right off.
The naplifters can be used either way, but generally are used after shampooing. Be aware that if you happen to have Berber or any looped carpet, absolutely don't use the naplifters. (I hate Berber!)
For best results, use naplifters, vacuum slowly, shampoo (1 cap of shampoo per line of water), use naplifters, allow a couple hours to dry, vacuum slowly. Vacuuming slowly removes the maximum amount of dirt from the carpet and even under pad.

It won't move forward. it turns on but drags when going forward will go backward smoothly.

On the front of Carpet claner is the clear part that pulls the water back up. It may have come apart. this will cause it to catch, unplug the cleaner, remove all the cleaners and water container, then , lift up and look at this part, If it has a large gap it has come apart.

To much water going out when shampooing and not picking any water up.

Follow instructions HERE.
If it is soapy water NOT FOAM coming out - make sure suds screen is installed.
If you get mountains of foam and it is absorbed into the rug by the time you are ready to pick it up - maybe you dispensing entire tank of soap before you go to pick it up. Do carpet in 6-10 foot wide sections.

Some carpets (especially Berber) are not easy to get the foam off...

Does my kirby come apart to where i can shampoo furniture . can i use kirby on berber carpet. i have the G series

YES there is Kirby upholstery shampoo attachment that comes in a standard set of attachments - HERE is the instructions. Try it on inconspicuous area first just to make sure that this is going to work on your upholstery. But I would just buy a can of upholstery foam. If you can not find it in a store - try automotive store - they definitely have it. Spray can is just much more simple. Still try it somewhere where you would not be afraid to damage the color first.

Using shampoo attachment on berber carpets is not as effective as on the regular carpet. Brush cant get to brush the fiber from all sides. You may have to shampoo berber rugs from several directions to get the better result.

Power Pro Bissell cleaner

Try going a diferent direction. Burber carpet is extreamly hard to clean because the nap it causes vacuums to bounce and shampooers to catch. just try using a differnt angle to shampoo the carpet from.
