Error code "Clear carriage Jam"

  • Mitch58 Dec 05, 2007

After restting (# and 3) was able to print out 24 pages before "carriage Jam" message reappeared> Did all the things in the HP T/S document-still got message! Actuall there was no jam of the carriage-it is a defect in the senso, which HP will/can not say where that is so it can be bypassed. After 16,900 pages I guess the thing wore out!! rest of machine runs well.

The foam underneath the printer carriage is getting stuck when it goes back and forth. you basically need to move that foam so it doesn't get in the way anymore

Had similiar problem with a Clear carriage jam error message. After watching the print carriage move with the cover open I discovered that the mechanism on the right side where the carriage parks was not retracting completely. With the print carriage moved out of the way I was able to see that there was a fabric pad under the unit that had become saturated with ink and was dragging on the bottom preventing the mechanism to cycle completely which was causing the error message. After pulling the pad loose and cutting some of it away I was able to free up the mechanism.

Hi there,
My problem with my hp photosmart 2610 is simply with yellow
streaks running vertical on the left side of the paper or photo, and when priniting a copy of a letter, the letters or numbers
are blurry or sometimes running into each other. Can you help me?

I'm not able to post a link, but go to the HP homepage and click on the support and troubleshooting link, click on the "all in one" link, click on the "solve a problem" link, click on "errors and lights", click on

Oops hit the wrong button. As I was saying, click on the "clear carriage jam" link and follow the directions posted there. It's got alot of options so you'll understand why it's not posted here. But I hope it helps you out.

Clear carriage jam

The carriage assembly is what the ink cartridges moves on. The silver bar that runs through the cartridge holder must be oiled. Put two or three drops of thin oil oun iether sides of the cartridge holder. This should clear the "carriage error"

Error message= open door clear carriage jam and

I think the message is instructions, as in
(1) open door (2) clear carriage jam (3) press enter
So there is something internal to the printer that makes it think it has a carriage jam, piece of paper under a sensor, dirty or stuck sensor.
If you can't find it using a bright light, try canned air.

My hp photosmart printer is saying Error carriage jam, open dorr clear carriage jam and then press Ok to continue. Which door should I open and how do I clear the carriage jam? Linda

Without any paper in the machine I would try powering off and powering on. Lifting the scanner lid will clear so the carrige goes back to the correct side of the printer. Even rebooting the printer and loading the software will sometimes cause the carriage to go back to where it was supposed to be.

Carriage Jam

Make sure you can move the print cartridge holder freely and that it isn't being blocked by anything inside the printer, also check if the cleaning station is in the right position, maybe it is locking the cartridges.

Carriage Jam error always - how do I fix it?

Try resetting the printer (pressing the cancel button and connecting the power supply, check in the HP website if this is correct for your printer model) , after the reset the printer will clear any errors and will recalibrate the mechanism including the paper feed mechanism and the carriage.
Also check if the carriage is moving freely by disconnecting the power and moving it by hand.
