Hi, Based on your post/description, you would need a video capture device installed to your PC. This maybe an internal PCI card or the newer external versions via USB or FireWire such as Pinnacle, Leadtek . Most brands/models will allow you to hook the camera using RCA (yellow) connector and/or S-video (black with multiple pins). You have to use the Line-in (blue) of your PC as the audio input. In some old cameras, the audio may be mono RCA, you would need an RCA combiner (2 female to 1 male) and connect it to a stereo baby phone to RCA cable. These products come with an installer CD for the drivers and a video capture software similar to Windows MovieMaker. Hope this be of some help to you and give you an idea. Post back should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards.

I have sony dcr-hc30e -handi cam, am not able to copy the pictures/video from my cassette in to PC , please help me if any software to download thanks in advance regards raju

If you need to transfer your files from this handycam to your computer, the first thing you will need is the usb data cable. This will let you transfer the files.

But in order for the computer to recognize your handycam it will need a special software or driver. This driver can be download from this site.
http://www.nodevice.com/driver/DCR-HC30E/get39785.html
(to download: enter the verification code in the box and click Download. Wait for a few seconds to start downloading, if fails click the link)

Once completely downloaded install this driver to your computer.

You may need this user guide or manual for this. (In order to view this manual you will need and Adobe Acrobat Reader installed in your system)

Connect the Handycam to the computer via usb data cable and let the computer read and found new hardware. Once a message appears " Your New Hardware Installed and Ready To Use appear" browse your explorer and look for the icon of the Handycam. Double click the icon and then you are ready for transfer.

Good luck.
Please comeback and give me some good ratings. Thank you for using Fixya.

Hi All, I have DCR-TRV238E Digital 8 Handycam... I want to transfer the recorded video to my computer... Can you please tell me where i can download the software to upload the video on to my computer...

All of pre-HDD cam does have FireWire port somewhere in it (or at the docking station in case of SONY's)

In order to capture the footage from the cam to your PC,you need the Firewire card and the cable.Should be available at any computer hardware store. All you have to do is to install the card to your PC,connect your cam to your computer via the cable, then capture the video by your favorite video editing software.

Yes,that sounds a bit more difficult than drag-and-drop work in USB-connection camera, but not too difficult to understand,of course.

Transfer the video from my Mini DV to PC

If you have a dvd recorder, you can hook up the cam to a recorder if it has rca jacks on the end of the cable.
Or if your handycam has a memory card slot, record straight to memory card or transfer memory to memory card, then place it in a computer with an sd memory card slot.

UNABLE TO TRANSFER VIDEO FROM SONY HANDYCAM DCR TRV TO MY LAPTOP

If you want to use the USB cable to connect the Camera to the Computer to transfer the video to the Computer then:

This Camcorder does not support USB streaming with the VISTA Operating System. Use an i.LINK cable to transfer the video to the Computer. The i.LINK port is also called IEEE 1394 or Firewire port. (An i.LINK is a black D shaped connector with 4 or 6 pins. The type of cable to be used will depend on the i.LINK port of your Computer. The Sony Camcorder will have the 4 pin i.LINK cable and if the computer has the 6 pin i.LINK port, then you may have to use the 4 pin to 6 pin i.LINK Cable).

You can use any video capturing software like Windows Movie Maker to transfer the video from the Computer.

Refer this link for the instruction to transfer the video to the Computer using i.LINK cable.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C111893

NOTE: As the Camcorder does not support USB streaming with Vista, it is not required to use any Sony Device Driver to transfer the video to the Computer. You do not require any Drivers or Software from Sony to transfer the video from the Camcorder to the Computer using the i.LINK/Firewire interface.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Video transfer from sony handycam ccd-trv 308 hi8 to a computer

I have a sony handycam ccd-trv 308 hi8 analog camcorder and I was trying to transfer videos from it to my computer. However, when I plug the S-video cable to the handycam and my computer, nothing happens. Does my computer require a driver to recognize the handycam because I cannot find any in the sites of sony for my handycam's model. Or am I using the wrong wire?

Export movie from an older TRV68 to computer

Hi,

I purchased a canon elura 100. The 100 has a AV -> DV converter. This allow you to tunnel your Sony via a 3.5mm 4-pole mini AV to mini AV camcorder A/V cable to your computer.

Sony (via AV out) -> (AV) Canon -> PC/Mac (DV) via fire wire cable
