I have a Westell 6110 modem I use the usb port. I had a new hard drive installed. Now I am trying to reinstall my verizon dsl. Everything lights as supposed to except internet light. I checked the phone lines, no filter. I even put a phone on the line to make sure I had a dial tone. Any suggestions?

Re: no internet light
Hi,
Other than just the lights turning on, you have to verify that your PC can see and communicate with your modem. But being in another region, I cannot give you specific details. However, this site might be of help with install instructions > http://www.fsr.com/pages/support.asp?ItemID=186
If this does not solve the problem, you may have to call Verizon and request for service.
Hope this be of some help. Good luck and kind regards.

Wellll....since it seemed an impossible task, I tried the next best thing.
I bought a wireless adapter for the other pc and voila! they are on the internet, and I am returning the router.
Westell modem + Verizon DSL w/usb = No connection to router.
I have a westell 6100 modem also- The light your are talking about always blinks- it blinks as long as the internet is working (it is sending and transmitting data)
If you reformatted your Windows on your pc, there's no need to change the settings of your network connections. The Westell 6100 can either be connected to your pc using the Ethernet port or the USB port if you're using the combo cable or Y-cable. It's more stable to use the Ethernet port for your Lan connection. For the USB, to reinstall the USB connection properly, you'll need the Verizon Installation CD. Make sure the USB is not connected to your PC first before you install it. You just need to follow the CD because it will tell you when to hook up the USB cable to the pc. If you still have the CD, after it runs, you have to select existing customer and then select connect new modem. After that you just to have follow the steps to install the USB connection properly and then your modem will work fine afterwards. If the problem still persists, you can try replacing the cable. If all else fails, it could be a modem problem already. You also need to check your Network Interface Card of NIC as we call it, it's built in your pc. it's the device that allows your pc to communicate with the modem. Normally after reinstalling windows, the NIC is forgotten, make sure you also install the drivers and utilities Cd for your windows.
Try to change the LAN IP address of your router to 192.168.2.1 by accessing the router's Setup page. You also need to set your Westell modem to "full-bridge mode". You need to ask assistance from your ISP to bridge the modem. After that, set-up the Linksys router to PPPoE then power cycle it.
for westell 6100 modem usb driver installation follow the steps for windows xp -close all programs -unplug usb cable from the pc -insert installation cd from verizon -plug usb cable back to pc -wizard will pop up found new hardware -click next then follow instructions -select usb connection on the installation
