Benq w100 fan noise and turns off

I have a benq w100, it's pretty old but still works pretty well. During a recent trip something has broken and even if the projector seems to be working, when it starts there's a loud noise like a fan was hitting something and after a minute more or less it stops and the temperature led goes on. I've opened it and the 2 fans in the front seem to be ok, the noise seems to come from the area below the board but i can't see or access that area since none of the screws seem to enable me to remove the whole board. Anybody knows if there's a third fan apart from the 2 in the front or what can be the cause thanks!

Hi,

Check if the unit has a Filter Timer ? If it does have one - check the hours on it and reset it.

If the problem still occurs or there is no filter timer in the Menu - check that all your fans are running.

Hope this is of help

Goodluck,

Did you add any other appliances to that circuit before/after/during the repair to increase amperage draw on the breaker?
Try replacing the overload protection outlet with a new one as it may be faulty/worn out. Good luck

BenQ DX 650 Won't power up making clicking noise

Those units are designed to be fan cooled after the bulb shuts off. When the cord was pulled, the unit lost power and without the fan, sat there and cooked. Could be a thermal fuse, could be the bulb.

My Benq PB6100 shut off after a few seconds

I had the same problem.
First thing to do is look up the owners manual, unless you happen to still have it, then verify the the sensor for the second (or rear something that sounds not like first) temp sensor is going off. If it is basically the fan that sends air into the lamps compartment may be clogged. I have had mine for several years and recently had the same problem. I almost went out to buy something new until I convinced myself that there was no harm in taking it apart and trying something. Good thing too, since all I had to do was clean the fan and reassemble. After that it stopped turning off by itself and I haven't seen any red lights.
Good luck to You!
