Stuck on "problem detected" screen

I opened the top to add a garment during the fill cycle, and now I get a screen message that says "Notice- a problem has been detected with this unit." I have tried disconnecting it from the power source and then reconnecting it, tried turning off the power button, tried to access any other cycle including the help button, but it is stuck on the above listed screen. I used dry powder rather than the liquid detergent that I usually use. Everything else is the same as usual operationwise.

Press the Back Button and the Heart (My Cycles) buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds or more. This will reset the screeen. Diagnostics will then run. Let it run through the diagnostics on the screen and then the washer can be used.

Stuck on "problem detected" screen

Hi deejay961...You may want to begin with the following procedures. Please update your post with your results, and if needed, we can progress until we correct your issue....good luck my friend...chris The Harmony washer electronics can automatically determine if problems exist with the machine. Sometimes an error code can also be present because of things the machine cannot control: like changes in house voltage, water pressure, or temperature. "A problem has been detected with this unit" will be displayed on the screen. The most common solution for this message is to turn the machine OFF and then ON. However, this message will sometimes cause the control to stop the machine from working. With this type of error, the control panel will need to be reset. The following steps will allow you to reset your control. Solution: 1. Clear the ERROR from the screen: Press and hold the MY CYCLES and BACK buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds. The control will display any recorded errors. Please write down what error codes are shown on your screen in case service is needed. If a MORE icon is displayed on the screen, press MORE to list additional errors. When the EXIT button appears, press EXIT. 2. Remove Power: Follow the onscreen instructions to remove power (unplug unit) and then immediately plug unit back in. 3. Clear Setup Mode: After power is restored, a setup screen that begins with "Congratulations..." will be shown. DO NOT PRESS the OK button shown at the bottom of the screen. Press the START/STOP and POWER buttons simultaneously until the Home Screen is displayed. Your unit is ready to function normally.

After the wash cycle it won't spin or drain and makes a hummin g noise then stops without spinning or draining

there is a blockage on the outlet from the drum
perhaps a sock or something is stuck in the drain
and the pump will pump for so long them error is detected
and it shuts down

this sock or something perhaps plastic or etc
can get into the space between the washing drum and the outer drum
and cause this issue

you only notice it at certain times filling it up will make the garment float
and then it empties and gets sucked down blocking the outlet

its a job for a tech to take out a sock or some garment
and clean the outlet fully

check your waist at the sink is clear and flows well
and the machines outlet filter ...

What is hd code????

Hi Peter, If I understand your question correctly, you are asking what the code "HD" means for your machine. I am unable to find the code "HD", however, here is a list of the codes for these Maytag models, perhaps one looks similar to "HD". Hopefully this answers your question!

Washer displaying code messages
- "LF" (Washer is taking too long to fill)
Check the following:
Are the water inlet hoses kinked or clogged?
Are the water inlet valve screens clear?
Press PAUSE/CANCEL to clear display.
- "Ld" (Washer is taking too long to drain water from the wash tub)
Check the following:
Is the drain hose kinked or clogged?
Is the drain hose installed properly? See "Connect the Drain Hose." Press PAUSE/CANCEL
to clear display.
- "uL" (Unbalanced Load)
If the load is unbalanced, the washer will display this code while running an imbalanced
load correction routine at the end of the wash cycle and before the final spin. If the code
remains and the wash cycle dial is flashing after the recovery routine has stopped, open
lid and redistribute the load. Close lid and press START.
- "oL" (Over Load)
Is the washer overloaded? The washer has attempted to fill and begin the wash cycle. If
the washer is overloaded, it will drain any water and detergent that was added during the
fill. To correct the overload, remove several items and add detergent. Close lid and press
START.
- "Sd" (Suds Detected)
Did you use regular detergent?
Regular or hand-washing detergents are not recommended for this washer. Use only High
Efficiency ("HE") detergent.
Did you add too much detergent?
Always measure detergent. Follow detergent manufacturer's directions.
If excessive suds are detected, the washer will display this code while running a suds
reduction correction routine at the end of the wash cycle. The suds reduction routine
removes extra suds and assures proper rinsing of your garments. If the code remains and
the wash cycle dial is flashing after the recovery routine has stopped, re-select your
desired cycle using cold water. Press START. Do not add detergent.
- "lid" (Lid Opened)
Is the lid open? Close the lid to clear the display. If the lid remains open for more than 10
minutes, water in the wash tub will drain.
- "HC" (Cold and Hot hoses switched)
This code will appear at the end of the wash cycle to indicate that the cold and hot water
inlet hoses are switched. See "Connect the Inlet Hoses."
- "dL" (Door/Lid cannot lock)
Indicates lid is not locked. Check for items caught in the lid keeping it from closing. Press
PAUSE/CANCEL once to clear the code.
- "dU" (Door/Lid cannot unlock)
Is there excessive weight on the lid, such as a basket of laundry? Excessive weight will
keep the lid from unlocking. Press PAUSE/CANCEL once to clear the code.
- "F##" code
Press PAUSE/CANCEL once to clear code. Press START. If code appears again, call for
service.

When I go and try to run the cleaning cycle, the machine will start to spin, then puts no water in and after about a minute en rL error is display. Some time the clean cycle will start with out a problem...

"rL" indicates a garment has been detected inside the wash tub. Garments are detected by weight. The wash tub must remain empty during a Clean Cycle. If you inspect the wash tub and it appears to be clear, inspect the area around the door bellow (rubber door seal) for loose items. It is common for small garments, such as socks and underwear to get lodged in the rubber folds. Pull back the folds around the door and inspect the perimeter of the seal. If you need further guidance please let me know. I hope this helps you.

What does LF mean?

It is a long fill error. It flashes when the machine control board detected no change in the water level or the water level is not reached in a certain period of time during the fill cycle. Water is probably not entering the tub due to the water inlet valve not functioning or water enters the tub but not properly due to clogged fill hose screens.

Press the Pause/Cancel button to clear the error on the display. Remove the fill hoses from the water inlet valve assembly at the back of the machine and check the screens. Clean the screens and replace it if necessary. Make sure that the water supply valve is open and water is present.

Put the machine in standby mode (only the Clothes Clean indicator is on) and activate the Manual Diagnostic Test Mode to check the operation of the water inlet valve.
  1. Select any one button except Power, Stop, and Stop.
  2. Press and hold the button for 3 seconds-->Release the button for 3 seconds--> Press and hold the button for 3 seconds-->Release the button for 3 seconds--> Press and hold the button for 3 seconds
  3. Press the same button when all indicators on the console are illuminated and "88" is displayed on the Estimated Time Remaining display. A single beep sounds and display shows the two digit console ID number for 3 seconds. The displayed ID number will change to "00" and the Add a Garment indicator will flash.
  4. Select Whitest Whites cycle.
  5. Press Start>Wash/Rinse Temp. The water inlet valve should turn on and fill the tub according to the Wash/Rinse Temp selection.
  6. Press Start to turn off the valve.
  7. Press Stop or Power button to exit diagnostic test mode.
