Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV
One night the TV was fine, but the next morning it had a blue screen with the following message: Check connections or power. The connections for RBGHV or YPrPb may be invalid. The TV then turns off in a minute or two. As far as I know nothing was changed overnight - no kids hitting buttons, power surges, etc. If it matters it is connect to a Time Warner HD cable box with DVR. I checked the YPrPb connections on the cable box and they are secure, but must admit that I really know nothing about either. Thanks in advance, Linda
1. Initialize settings by pressing "menu, 2, 4, 7, 0 enter" after settings have been initialized press the system reset button on the front once the LED stops blinking, reprogram the netcommand and tuner settings. 2. (Initialization and reset does not help) Suspect the DM PCB part # 934C116002

May have something to do with cable, but if not and this is all you set then:1. (Lamp may light and go out) suspect bad lamp part # 915P020010 2. Check for 12-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 4 on the Engine Driver PCB, if missing check for an open F9A09 on the Power PCB, if it is open replace F9A09 part # 283P127060 and the Light Engine part # 939P977010 3. (Lamp may light and go out) Check for 5-volts DC at J-9 connector pin 1 and 2 on the Engine Driver PCB if low or missing check C9A37 and C9A38 both 3300 UFD 10 V on the Power PCB (part # 930B921002) 4. At power on the lamp turns on and off three times and then the unit shuts down with a red lamp LED (lamp error). Replace the Light Engine part # 939P977010 5. Lamp enable line at J14 pin 6 does not switch to 5 volts after turn on, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010 6. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on and does go to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Lamp Power PCB (ballast) part # 939P978010 7. Lamp enable line at connector J14 pin 6 on the Engine Driver PCB switches to 5 volts after turn on but does not go back to 0-volts (low) after 5 seconds, 12 and 5 volt supplies are good. Suspect the Light Engine part # 939P977010

Try unplugging the TV set from the wall for at least an hour or so.

Turn the set on. Let the led change to red. Then press and hold the device and menu button together on the front panel for five seconds. Set has to be on in the shut down mode, or you will get a 1,2 code. Let me know what the code is. It will be a two digit code flashing from the LED. I also happen to have the factory service manual if you think that will help. That will save you at least 30 bucks or so. Leave an e-mail address and I will send you a copy. That way you can see how to do the diagnostic codes right from the manual.
I sent you the service manual. Go to the diagnostics page and see what comes up.
Yes please let us know.

Ok, I did that and now the screen does not come on at all. The timer light has a steady green light for a couple of minutes and then the lamp light turns a steady red. It did not do this before. Not that I think unplugging it caused the lamp to go out, but maybe I should mention that right after the problem started when I took the TV off of cable to antenna (via device), it did display the show what was playing on that channel.
I have tried trying off the TV for several minutes and also unplugging it again with the same results as above. At this point I am not sure if I need to order a lamp or if this could just be a false reading because of the prior problem.
One thing I forgot to add is that at one point when trying various things (before asking here) I got a green screen with a darker green, jagged, moving oval in the middle. But to be clear, right now I am getting no picture and a steady red lamp light.
Right now if I can't get a solution here I really don't know whether to pay $300+ for a lamp or pay the fee (at least $150 from what I can determine) to have someone come out.
Thanks. I will try this in the morning as it is late, but wanted to go ahead and send my email. Hope you don't mind me spelling it out.

It took a while, but I got the code - 34. What is odd is that after giving me the code the lamp light went off and I got the same error message I got in the beginning (check connections, RBGHV or YPrPb) but it was on a rapidly flashing green screen and wasn't very clear. This lasted about 5 minutes and then the screen went blank and the lamp light turned red again. I don't know if it makes a difference, but when the lamp light is red, it is the only light on.
My husband remembered yesterday that he purchased an extended warranty so we should have the new lamp on Tuesday. He is convinced this is the only problem and doesn't want to do anything else until he installs that.
If that doesn't fix it he will then have to try the steps you have given him.
Thank you so much for your help. I'll be getting back to you with feedback if necessary.
