Probably wiped out the power supply ckt components....it is Totally inoperative.....It wasn't used but a few times. My laptop transformer is similar in appearance to my eton xformer...hopefully I might be able to localize the damage if I can find a schematic? ..and possibly salvage it. power supply was 12VDC Neg ground instead of 5VDC Pos ground.

This may be caused by a problem with some AC adapters supplied with these radios. (It is a known problem with the Grundig G5, which is supposed to be an identical radio.) I have read that you can request a replacement adapter from Eton.

Cannot select USB or SSB.Displays LSB or LISB? Very poor reception

On the Satellit 750 you have a button marked SSB. If you have selected a shortwave band then you can press the SSB button. Pressing the button repeatedly will toggle between LSB and USB.

You will need to know the exact frequency and the broadcast time, and the side band. Turn the radio on. Select a frequency which you know carries SSB signal and wait. Those that broadcast on SSB are not radio stations, maybe ham radio operators.

You can also select a short wave band, press the SSB button once or twice to select the side band and launch the automatic tuning system. It will scan the meter band and stop for a few second when it receives a strong enough signal. If you are able to perceive a clear signal on LSB or USB then you found a broadcaster. Some radios just have SSB and you cannot choose the side.
Personally, when I buy a radio I always insist on SSB but I have never been lucky tuning in an SSB signal. I keep trying once in while.

Hi i recently bought a cobra 29 ltd chrome cb radio for my car,i also installed a new antenna ,i have a strong signal, but i am unable to hear conversations because the sound is distorted. It sounds like...

You can't tune the radio. You are supposed to tune the antenna.

I have a page for tuning your antenna. This can cause some distortion, but it shouldn't be that bad. Go here for how to tune your antenna.

also the internal speakers aren't that great. Try an external. I can't just use an internal because an external is so much better.

Something else to consider. There is a lot of skip right now. Skip is when the ionosphere becomes charge by solar flairs, and causes radio signals to skip across it, making them travel hundreds and even thousands of miles. There are some cb operators out there who run a lot of power. 10k watts and up, who just talk skip all day. A lot of those guys sound extremely distorted and over modulated. You may be hearing these guys out there. Its their radio's not your receive.

Also. People who are close to you, may over load the front of the radio in the receive section, which will make it sound distorted.
