When installing XP, it let's me get to about the end of the formatting and then I get the blue screen of death. This is what it reads. PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA STOP:0x00000050(0x80374020,0x00000000,0x8088259A,0x00000000) I am using a Intel Desktop Motherboard with a Intel Celeron CPU.

Have you added any new hardware? This is typically caused by a faulty RAM module. But could also be any other new hardware you might have added. If you haven't added any new hardware, try removing one RAM module at a time and performing the installation (assuming you have 2 installed), and try again. Or, you might need to purchase a new one, or borrow from another PC to try temporarily.

I want to format my pc and fix xp service pack 2.how can i will be able to do this???

Hi, before you format your hard disk, make sure you have saved all important files that you like to keep on an external drive, for example a USB Stick. Formatting your hard disk will destroy all data.
If you want to format and reinstall Windows XP do the following:
Insert your Windows XP CD. Restart your computer. Your computer should then automatically start from the CD and show the Windows XP Setup.
In Windows Setup you can choose the partition on which you want to install Windows. There you can also format the partition, before installation. To do this, just follow the directions that are shown.

My 250 gb hard drive is only showing capacity of 127gb

Firstly install SP3 if that doesnt work you need to update your bios to get large disk support. If you dont want to perform any of these fixes you could simply split the drive into 2 or more partitions to access the full 250gb. Goto Control Panel/Computer Management/Disk Management you will see in there the missing gb's of your drive. Simply right click it format it and give it a drive letter.......Cheers from Scott

Need to install install XP PRO on used cluttered hardrive.

Please follow this excellent guide XP Pro Clean Install to lead you through the process.
Check first to be sure your system meets the requirements for an installation of XP.
Also make sure beforehand that you back up any documents or files you wish to save from the old drive, because you will not have access to them after installation. Make sure you have a CD with Drivers for the hardware installed on your system; you will need these to access the internet once you install the new OS. Also be sure to have downloaded AntiVirus software installation files so you can load this onto the new system before going online.
You could, if you choose, buy a new hard drive and install your existing drive as a slave to the new master on your existing computer. In this way, you will still have access to all your old files and documents, without having to back them up.
Best of luck, and enjoy XP!

Windows os

Its true. the Bios or HDD driver wont allow you to install Win XP on it.. This BIOS is compatible with only Win Vista. The only easy way to do it is by creating 2 partitions while installing vista. once vista is installed- install XP with Dual boot and than format the vista partition.

Hanging on detection of drive when installing Windows XP

Installing Windows XP on a SATA hard drive is not a straight-forward task as Windows XP does not recognize the SATA drive. In order to install operating systems such as Windows XP on SATA drives, the latest SATA drivers are required.Download SATA drivers for the motherboard from the website and integrate them with the XP installation CD using software such as nLite. SATA drivers can also be installed as third party drivers; you will be prompted during the installation process. Without proper SATA drivers, installing Windows XP on a SATA hard drive is not possible as SATA mode would have to be disabled in the BIOS to continue with the installation.
Installing Windows XP on a Serial ATA hard drive is not an easy task, because the system does not recognize SATA drivers at startup. Windows XP Pro SP2 fares a little better with SATA drivers, but here is what can be done in cases where the driver is not recognized.
