Want a B&W copy from colored sheet of paper w/o dark background.
Hi, Trying to make a copy from a colored sheet of paper and keep getting a dark background. How do I make a black and white copy without getting the dark background? We have a Canon Color Imagerunner C5180. Thank you! M
Re: Want a B&W copy from colored sheet of paper w/o dark...
It's never going to be perfect (unless the background is quite light in colour), because the copier basically "sees" the coloured background as "gray", and the darker the background the more "gray" it looks. Try setting the original type to "photo" mode, and then adjusting the exposure a little lighter/darker....that's all you can basically do.

There are specks throughout the entire copy. The Original Glass is dirty. Wipe the glass with a soft dry cloth. The document pad is dirty. Clean the document pad with a soft cloth dampened with a mild detergent. The original is highly translucent, such as diazo photosensitive paper or OHP transparencies. Place a blank sheet of paper over the document. A double-sided document is being copied. If a thin double-sided document is being copied, the information on the back side may be reproduced in the copy. Use the Auto/ Photo key to select a lighter density for the background. Notice where the metal retainer beneath the glass cuts off the view of your document you wish to copy and make allowances on your copy. Most printers disallow some portion of the edges of any document for handling the transport of the document through the feeder, or in the cases of contact copiers, a portion of the sheet as you have experienced, so that the edges need not be so carefully adjusted to avoid the dark line in edge copied formats.
Format all documents so that you do not need to copy the portion excluded.
Sometimes this can be accomplished by reducing the size of the document.
If you use Photo Glossy Paper, you have to put at least two sheets of paper. If you read the photo glossy paper instructions that came in the package you will see it.
The package brings one sheet more than mentioned because of this specification.
Replace controller/ interface board. The next step would be the regulator board. If you must keep resetting the ATDC and receive different values ( assuming that the ATDC is new) then the problem is back. What supplies/ controls the ATDC? The controller, but forgive me if I am wrong, there is a small interface board after the controller that the ATDC is plugged into.
Nice printer.. Hope this will give hints. Considering transparency papers, please try another batch of or a piece of transparency paper. Try to adjust also the graphics preferences (dark to light) aside from transparency paper selection. Have a nice day.
