Tedious, but not very hard. you must remove the inner door panel and reconnect the rods to the handle from inside the door. if the clips that hold the rod onto the handle are broken, you may need to source new clips, or just get another door handle that comes with clips.

SOURCE: door handle broken (rear left)

did you just break the handle or did you break it off from inside the door also? If it is only from the outside that is a much easier fix. Let me know what the issue is and I will try to help you as easy as possible.

SOURCE: Driver's door handle will not open the door

Take it to the buick dealer. As the daughter of a mechanic, it was a call I didn't want to make! The dealer installed two handles for me and painted them to match for under $100.00. Well worth the trip.

SOURCE: How do you replce broken door handle?

This is a problem that you should be able to fix. With the interior door panel there are 3 screws. 2 in the arm rest and 1 on the door handle(opener), take those out. There is a C-clip on the window crank that needs to be removed. They make a cheap little tool to remove those but I've heard people using a shop rag and removing the c clip. To remove it, turn crank to around 9 oclock then slide the tool or rag behind the crank also coming from 9 oclock. Any position will work, my point being the tool must slide in from behind the crank handle. Use a flat head screwdriver to gently pry the edges of the door panel away. There are some little clips that pop loose. It's okay if some break you can buy more. After that you will slide the door handle (opener) forward a little to pop out. Twist and turn the panel to get it over the door handle. There are 2 bolts that hold the handle on from the inside. They are 10 mm. You can reach the most forward one pretty easy but the back one is taken out through a hole in the metal door panel. Mine had a sticker over the hole with a big yellow dot on it. After that it takes some pretty good force to get the handle out of the hole. Don't be afraid to push on it. When it pops out take some wire cutters and cut the little plastic clip that holds the metal rod to the handle. The lock twists out of the hole. Now this is when you need 3 hands. Hold the new handle close to the opening and twist the lock into position. Don't attach the metal rod yet. Now actually put your key in the lock. This helps you hold the lock in the correct position while inserting the handle. Put the top of the handle in first and then the bottom should snap in next. Now from the inside, reach up and slide metal rod in the hole and rotate the plastic clip to secure it. Now the hardest thing is getting that back bolt in. It helps again to leave the key in the lock and rotate it so the bolt can secure the locking mechanism to the handle. Put the front bolt in reinstall the interior door panel and you should be in business. Good Luck

Driverside inside door won,t open the dr or even unlock the drs handle is pulled to release?

more likely the door handle mechanism is either broken or came undone, the only way to get to it and see what broken or came off is to remove the door cover panel, its not easy job and its time consuming if not mechanical incline although it something fairly simple to fix and repair. you may just have to replace inner door handle if it broken off from the linkage.

2003 Nissan Maxima driver side door will open from outside door handle, but will not open using inside door handle.

You have a problem with the linkage that goes from the inside handle to the door mechanism. You need to take off the door lining and make an inspection. It could be a broken clip, spring, retainer or a little over centre mechanism that has seized up. Should be an easy fix once you can see whats happening with the door liner off.

How to change a external door handel on a 96 xl

First you need to remove the internal coverage of the door.It usually comes off after you removed the fixing screws from the pull bar on the inside.Plastic pins use to hold inside cover all around the door. These can be removed with an easy and quick pulling movement,to help it use a screw driver .Door handle tow and pull arms needs to be removed then two little screws from inside holds the door handle.

i have a 94 2dr cutlass and the same thing happend to me, now i can tell u how to fix the problam but the door has to be open to fix, so if your in the same boat i was with both door handles broke then there was only two ways i could think of to get the doors open with both handles broke, ether go threw the trunk and break the seat of break a widow witch is what i did, and once ur window is broke dont replace glass untill handles are fixed. what u do is once the door is open look on the inside behind handle and there is a black cover that has a few screws on it, remove this and u will have a perfect view of the lever assembly, i went to my local junk yard and got me two handles that were that were in good shape, and one u see how it works its a pretty easy fix
