The top drawer seems to have no power. It does not light up or beep. The bottom drawer is working. The Fisher Paykel customer service person advises me to call a repair person, it could be the controller. Is there anyway to test this theory before calling a repair shop? Could there be another part, other then the controller, that is the culprit? I want to fix it myself so any help on what might be wrong and how to fix it would be appreciated.
I fixed the problem myself. I called the Fisher Paykel Customer Service and they advised me that the problem was probably the controller unit. I took the controller unit from the working drawer and put it in the non-working drawer. That proved that in deed it was a bad controller unit. I ordered a new one from Fisher Paykel Customer Service and installed it. Both drawers are working now.

Try and do a power reset to the dishwasher. This means turn the mains power off to the dishwasher and back on again. If there is no mains socket under the kitchen bench then maybe do this from the mains contactor switch in the meter box. If there is no difference to the behaviour of the top drawer then the controller has most likely packed up. You can test things out by taking controller from bottom drawer and putting in top drawer. But this requires some experience with taking out the front covers of the drawers, taking out the connectors and putting back. If you mix the connector connections etc you can cause more damage. Take photos as you go along. Make sure the dishwasher is disconnected from mains power when you are working on it.
If this is a double drawer dishwasher and bottom drawing is functional but top drawer won't open means the controller on top drawer is faulty or power circuit is locked. If turning the mains power off and back on makes no difference then controller could be the problem. One way to test is to take the controller from bottom drawer and replace that in the top drawer. This requires a lot of patience and experience with electronic stuff. If you are not brave enough to test then call the technician. The controller is about $200 to buy. Make sure the mains power socket is taken out before working on the dishwasher internals.
Sorry did not see your problem report earlier. If you have checked the sensor under the bottom drawer and it is dry, then F1 is caused by top drawer power filter fault. This means the bottom drawer controller is giving the F1 error but the top drawer controller has no power. Can you confirm this.
You could isolate the top drawer by taking the controller power cable out. DIsconnect mains power to dishwasher, open top drawer and remove front cover carefull after removing 2 plastic pins on each side with plier. Controller box is on left top side, remove bottom connector and cover with insulation tape. Put things back and turn power back on.
But if you want to find the fault with top drawer then that is very trick if there is no fault code on panel except beeping First clean the top panel inside door with a clean damp cloth. If this does not change the situation, then it is very likely the controller is detecting some faulty sensor - and will need to find one by one. Are you ready for it?
The drawer door seal is locked in. This could be either because the controller has lost power or the seal actuator motor is faulty.
You will have to force open the drawer before you can do anything. (Turn off the mains power when you work on the dishwasher)
Let me know if you can handle electric/ mechanical repairs so that I can guide you further. Otherwise you should call a technician. If you are getting beeps then most likely the door seal system is the problem.
Are you able to use the top drawer?
My top draw F&P won't drain, it seems to want to go thru the cycle, but then leaves about 3 inches of water. no codes are displaying. No extra beeping. please help!
Hi,
Below is the service manual link and a web site that I found. refer to the lower section where a person writes in that the fixed the flooding with a hairdryer. I hope this helps, they seem like fantastic dishwashers.
