Ok folks I may be a dynosaur but I just upgraded my computer to Vista from Windows 98 where I was using PhotoSuite for Windows95 Version 8.05. I also had Version 1.0 which is nearly the same.
I love that software and used it daily.
Is there any way I can get an run 8.05 on my new computer?
I have the new Platinum version 4.0 on my new computer and after a week I still can't run it.
Many thanks in advance for any help you can give me.
MGI Photosuite on Vista, THE FINAL SOLUTION!!! First you need to get hold of an MGI disc or a download. I have been trying to get MGI Photosuite III SE to install on Vista for months without success and then when I thought I'd finally sorted it I could not launch the program due to a script error. You do not need Virtual PC, Virtual XP or any add-ons. Simply find and right click the the MGI setup file, check the run in compatibility mode as Windows XP SP2 and install. After install, send a program launch shortcut to your desktop, right click, go to properties and check the Windows XP compatibility mode once again. Finally, while you still have the compatibility screen open add a tick check to Run As Administrator. Hey presto my beloved MGI Photosuite is back! MGI is fantastic for being user friendly and simple, and although I know other users insist there are better programs, I’ve tried loads and I still think it’s a winner.
Hi, my name is Matías and I´m from Argentina. Mgi photosuite 8.05 works on vista, I have it working now. The problem is that the installer doesn´t work on vista, so you have to install the photosuite in windows xp (You can use Virtual Pc to do this), then copy the files of the Mgi photosuite directory that are in program files of xp, to windows vista. I hope I can help, sorry for my english.
Maty THANK YOU a MILLION TIMES
I had also installed a Virtual PC and was running XP and was happy that I could use PhotoSuite, but now with your extra little help of simply copying the PhotoSuite folder back onto my C drive on the Vista side, I can now use PhotoSuite normally...
Thank You again for the extra little info.....

Unfortunately with Roxio taking over MGI a few years back there is no fix, patch, update out there that will make MGI work with Vista.... I am in the same situation when I tried to install my MGI PhotoSuite from my XP OS to the new PC with Vista..
I like the older MGI but now with the new PhotoSuite programs from Roxio or Adobe, it looks like I/we have to go back to school and do some more learning...
I have transferred my MGI Photosuite version 8.05 program repeatedly
from my last four computers. And now I
find that it will not work on Vista. I
did read the some programs not working in Vista will resume working in Windows
7, let’s hope that true. What other
simple yet superior programs are out there for Vista use that I might use in
place of my beloved MGI Photosuite version 8.05.
