bring it into the MAC store (repair shop) it will most likely be the logic board ( part of the mother board) if you are still under warranty it cost nothing, if not $891 for part, over $1000 installed. Don't try the tooth pick thing you can void your warranty.    or use external speakers......

I am having the same problem.... It started when I put the headphones in and it works... but when I removed the headphone, my speakers are not working and the red light is on.  I took my MacBook to Apple Store 3 times and they don't see the problem.... so it seems like I am stuck with this situation.   Who else can solve this problem?

How can I get the output to work for the Rosetta Stone ear headphones on my MacBook Pro computer?

hold down the option key on your keyboard and then press the volume up or down button on your keyboard. This brings up the sound preferences pane. Click on the Output tab then make sure your headset is selected as the output.

Macbook white keyboard keys 5, t, g, ?, ' stopped work

Most likely keyboard is dying! Try connecting an external USB keyboard and use the keys not working on the other keyboard. If they work then it means that you have a faulty keyboard.

I'm thinkin' 2. This page <http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/MacBook-Unibody-Model-A1342/1239/3> talks about it having "two small tweeters beneath the keyboard, one below the caps lock key, and the other below the return key."
Good luck.

My underline (dash), enter, and right bracket keys do not work.

It sounds like a keyboard fault, try plugging in any USB keyboard, if that works the keyboards are fairly straught forward to swap (google "take apart guide" for your exact model, keyboards are usually on eBay

Problem with speakers, Mac laptop MacBook 13" white

Have you made sure that the sound options in system preferences are all set, and not muted? Open system preferences, choose sound, go to the output tab. Make sure it's not muted or something silly.

If that's not it, and you're mechanically inclined, you can try opening the mac case and see if the speakers are disconnected. Although, I doubt they are unplugged.
