Here are the steps for unlocking a Sony Ericsson W550i,
1 - Switch ON your Sony Ericsson W550i without any SIM Card,
2 - Press the left arrow key/button once,
3 - Press the button * twice,

obviously it has something to do with it's screen... the best thing to do is bring it to a technician... that would be a minor repair. it could be either a "part" is loose( due to accidental bumps) or that specific part needs a replacement. Here in the Philippines, it'll cost you below a thousand pesos...
