When i turn the power on the screen flickers but does not turn on
Replace the connector cord between two screens. You can buy new ones from DX Deal extreme! Carefully remove through hinge and attach securely.
Be careful not to break the fine wires connecting. Have to twist the connector cord in the correct way to make it go through hinge without damaging.
Good luck cos it is a fiddly job.

Your backlight most probably has went out, if it is under warranty bring it back to the manufacturer for them to replace the LCD Screen. If not, go on ebay and buy a screen replacement for the top or bottom or whichever that is not working. SOURCE: DS lite, power is on but nothing happens
Ditto... except my daughter is 10. Both screens remain black, are fully charged and green light stays on for more than 4 minutes.

SOURCE: my nintendo ds lite was dropped and now the top
your fuse or fuses are dead. however, it is fixable, but it is extremely difficult.
1. if you don't have the time or the means or the wants to solder it,
then sell it on ebay and you can get a fairly good price and someone
else will fix it
2. if you do want to go through with this then you will need a meter, a soldering iron, and a lot of time and patience.
If you are interested, just notify me

SOURCE: My ds lite images on the top screen flickering.
Open up the DS and then unseat and reseat the ribbon cable that goes to the screen.
Once you do that, turn on the DS and if the screen is still flickering then the screen will need to be replaced.
Here is a tutorial on how to open up the DS and what the ribbon cable looks like:

when turned on screen flickers then goes out again
When trying to turn on the power, it flickers and goes back off
Yup.. Same problem here - I had it checked out by a professional and he said that the most common issue here was the fuses, but after checking it was not and found that it is prolly the ribbon cable to the top-screen which is defective / loose..
when i turn my ds on it flickers on and goes back off
Whenever there is a connection problem witheither screen on the DS, which can be a damaged or loose ribbon cable or a faulty screen. The DS will not boot but rather it will flash the screen that is working and the other screen has a problem and needs checked. Top screens tend to go bad where the ribbon cable goes through the hinge.
