Everytime i try to insert a disc into my ps3 i get a loud clicking or grinding noise and the disc will only go in so far. please can you help.
thanks mike.
Hi m8
sounds like you have a problem with your loading tray.the only way to fix it would be to strip it down and have a look at the mechanism itself. i wouldent recoment opening it your self as you might dammage something else and parts for ps3's are hard enough to get a hold of and are expencive.i would recomend sending it to these guys as they fix consols all the time and are very cheap.

Make sure that you do not have the PS3 on it's side. Lay it flat. Insert a MOVIE DVD first and see if it will recognize the disc.
If you continue to hear a grinding sound when the ps3 is laying down that could only mean one thing, you need a replacement drive.
Dont forget to Always update your Playstation to the newest firmware.
PS3 blu-ray drives are pretty problematic. The best solution is to send your ps3 back (without opening it and trying to fix it yourself (voids the warranty)) to sony. Your drive sounds broken, happened to me once before, sent it back, and now its like brand new (took a bit for them to get it back to me though)
If your ps3 is not reading your discs this is most likely because of the lens moving slightly off key, you can fix it yourself or you can send it in. The good news is that it is quite an easy fix.
Loud grinding noises are always a BAD sign of things to come. It could have been that something was in the fans on your unit or it could have been the hard drive. Either way, I would return it if it is still under warranty. You will not regret this.
Hi my name is Juan and the problem you got is with the bluray laser lens they have stopped reading games you can check this out put a cd on your ps3 and at the same time place your ear on top cover and will heard 3 clicking noises of the laser but make no noise because this clicking noise is so fine that you need to make no noise it goes click click click you will hear it but make sure you put your ear on top cover at the same time you insert the disk it takes about 3 -4 seconds for the clinking noise after you have insert the cd some lasers they do try to read and they make the disk to spin off and on some they do make the disk to spin normally but nothing happen and the solution is to replace the laser lens I am a ebay trusted power seller and I can get you one if you want to
