I can't transfer image from the camera to my computer. With other computer works ok. When i turn on the camera it suppose to get you to a pop up window with what action next(choose program). The window appear but there is no list of which action to choose. It just blank.
I try to open Canon Ixy Ixus DV6 Camera Window program and the massage "Cannot detect camera. Check connection to camera and retry"
I'm sure there's no connection problem or USB port problem as other hardware like flash drive works fine and furthermore before this there's no problem with tranferring image from camera to this computer(before format). It's simply could not communicate with the camera.
Added info: Before this I thought the problem maybe because of i use K-Lite codec and it messed with Quicktime. but after uninstalling K-lite and reinstall Qtime the problem still persist.
Please help.TQ.
I feel my intelligence insulted. I did tell, all step toward transferring the image from camera to my computer are the same with other computer as with this computer before format. And i know the problem is not codec obviously as it not solving problems(i regret uninstall K-lite codec as it's good software). And how can you wrongfully install a software if it's auto install or install wizard. I think the problem is communication between the computer and the camera which i'm also not sure if this is the real problems. Whenever i turn on the camera the computer responding like detecting and pop up appears but that is. I need to be able to see the list in the pop up and tranfer image as it fast. I only need 2 min(maybe 1 min avg) to transfer the image and i on the go again. Anyway thank you.I feel my intelligence insulted. Following the instructions, my computer no longer detects the camera. I've downloaded pictures from the Canon A430 before, no problem, however the computer (or Zoom Browser EX) no longer detects the camera. I've tried all variations of start-up and plugging in etc, but there appears to be no communication between the two devices.Following the instructions, my computer no longer detects the camera. Hi
Set the camera mode to preview turn it off then connect USB to the camera and turn it on,no need to instal the canon software to get the pictures or video use microsoft scan and camera. The problem is not with the codec. If you want to use the camera software you have to read how to install it correctly.

You need the software on the cd rom that came with yor camera.
I quote from the manual: turn on the computer-plug the USB cable into the camera-plug the other cable end into a USB port on the computer-the image download window displays on the computer screen-use the software's browser function to choose the folder in which you would-be like to save your pictures-click Ok to download the images. Hope it works!
When your camera will not transfer images onto memory card this is often because the image storage has been set to 'Auto'. You need to set it back to internal memory temporarily to allow you to copy the images over to the card. Once you have done this you can set the camera back to 'Auto' and this will reset the system and you will now have access to all of the images on the card.
This particular procedure works with all cameras but the steps outlined here are for Kodak in particular.
Please follow these steps; 1) Insert the card
2) Turn the camera to Auto
3) Press review - "reading memory card"
4) Press menu and scroll down to image storage and press ok
5) Select Internal Memory and press OK
6) Scroll down to Copy - Copy Pictures to memory card
7) Scroll down to ALL and press OK - you should see "Copying" displayed
8) When the screen goes back to the main menu - Scroll to Image storage again and select Auto - OK - "Reading memory card"
You should now be able to see the pictures from your internal memory saved onto your memory card and your camera is once again ready to use.

The LCD screen may display a FILE ERROR message when trying to view a still image on the camera if the image was rotated, modified and overwritten using editing software on a computer. To play images you have taken on the camera, it is recommended that you do not make any changes to the original image files. I suggest that you transfer the images from the Camera to the computer and check if it works. After transferring the images, get the Memory formatted from the Camera and start capturing new images. The edited images will not get displayed in the Camera again. Please try not to edit the images in the Computer without transferring it.
Set the camera to Disk Drive mode (this step only needs to be done once):
Turn on the camera, then press the Menu/OK
button to display the Capture Menu.
Use the Right arrow
button to navigate to the Setup Menu
.
Use the Down arrow
button to highlight the USB
menu option, and then press Menu/OK
.
Use the Down arrow
button to select Disk Drive
, and then press Menu/OK
.
Use the Down arrow
button to highlight EXIT
, and then press
Menu/OK
.
After setting the camera to Disk Drive mode, connect the camera to the computer using the USB cable.
The
camera will appear as a removable disk in the Windows Explorer screen.
You can now transfer the images or video clips to a location on the
computer using Windows Explorer.
When
finished transferring images from the camera to the computer,
disconnect the camera from the computer. If the computer is running
Windows 2000 or XP, there may be an Unsafe Removal
warning upon disconnecting the camera. This warning may be disregarded.
Go get a card reader and transfer your images thru that. That's the only way I ever transfer my images from camera to computer. You can get one relatively inexpensive...that is...if your computer doesn't already have a card slot in it.
Have you checked the HP hep site?
Here is their suggestion
Introduction
This document explains how to transfer images from the camera to a computer running Windows XP operating system by using a universal serial bus (USB) cable.
Transferring the images
Follow the steps below to transfer images from the camera to a Windows XP computer.
Step one: Connect the camera to the computer
Turn off the camera.
The camera came with a special USB cable for connecting the camera to a computer. Connect the large end of that USB cable to the computer.
Figure 1: Connect the USB cable
Open the rubber door on the side of the camera and connect the small end of the USB cable to the USB connector on the camera.
Step two: Transfer the images
Choose one of the following methods to transfer the image files:
Method one: Transfer images with the HP Photosmart software
If images on the camera are selected for printing or selected for HP Instant Share destinations, make sure the computer is connected to a printer and the Internet.
Turn on the camera. The HP Import Photos software starts on your computer. If you have set the software to automatically transfer the images in the camera, the images automatically transfer to the computer.
Otherwise, in the Transfer images from Camera/Card screen, click Start Transfer . The images are transferred to the computer, and then if there are any still images that were previously selected for HP Instant Share destinations, those actions are started.
When the Image Action Summary screen appears on the computer, you can disconnect the camera from the computer.
Method two: Transfer images without the HP Photosmart software
If you do not, or cannot, install HP Photosmart Software on your computer, you can still transfer images from the camera to the computer using the Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) in Windows XP.
Follow the steps below to transfer images.
Turn on the camera.
Windows will automatically launch a program to transfer the images.
When the images have finished transferring, disconnect the camera from the computer.
If you encounter problems, check that the camera USB Configuration in the Setup Menu is set to Digital Camera .
While in Live View , press the Live View/Playback button, and then press the Menu/OK button.
Scroll to the Setup Menu using the left/right arrow buttons.
Use the up/down arrow buttons to scroll through the Setup Menu to highlight the USB option.
Use the left/right arrow buttons to change the setting to Digital Camera and then press the Menu/OK button.
To exit from the Setup Menu , press the Live View/Playback button.
You should be able to transfer the images directly to your computer without transfering them to you memory stick duo. Have you tried connecting the camera to your computer and retrieving the images? If you would rather have the images on your camera on your memory stick duo, then remove the memory stick duo connect the camera to your computer, copy the images off of the camera, turn the camera off, put the memory stick duo back into the camera, plug the camera back in, then transfer the images that you just transfered from the cybershot to your computer back to the camera. They should copy directly to the memory stick duo.
How do I download images from the camera to view on my computer?
With the camera turned off, connect the USB cable to the PC and plug the smaller end into the camera. The camera will turn on and display the selection screen for USB. Use the arrow keys to select the PC option and then press the OK button. The camera will be recognized by the computer as a removable drive. There are instructions available at our web site (http://www.olympusamerica.com/download). For editing and managing image files with a PC, install the Olympus Master 1.0 software from the supplied CD-ROM. After installing the software, connect your camera to the PC via the USB cable provided.
