In order to get a meter count, turn the machine completely off (including main power,) and press and hold "0" and "8" simultaneously, then power on the machine. After about 5-8 seconds of holding these keys, the machine will boot into test/service mode, and at that point you want to type "257" and "start," then the meter count will be displayed.
You could have an issue with your tray lift gear box. Most likely the motor has weakened or failed completely. This is located in the back of the machine on the bottom. If the motor is completely shot you will likely have to get it replaced.
With the copier turned off hold down the 0 and 8 keys together while turning the copier on . Continue holding both those keys down until a function screen comes up. At this point key in 629 and press the Start key. Then press the 7 key and press set. This will disable the Dept code functions. Shut off the machine and power back up.
Hold down the 0 and 8 keys while turning on the copier. Keep on holding down the keys until the screen shows a adjustment mode screen. Once it does this key in 205 then you should see a numeric value. Input 15 and press start to lock it in This will change you power saver mode to 60 minutes. Next enter code 206. Key in 19 and press start. This will change your sleep mode to 240 minutes. These are the setting that are most generally used when these copiers are initially set up. Then just turn the copier off and back on. I hope this resolves your problem.
