Wheelwriter 1500 is only printing the top half of the letters.

Typing fine this morning, but something was keeping the paper from rolling into the carriage(?). I found a piece of tape and 2 adhesive labels stuck to th silver plate beneath the black rubber roller. Since I cleaned that up, I can't get the bottom half of the letters to print.

Fixed--the platen wasn't snapped in place completely.

I have solved the problem. It turned out that the platen was not completely secured on the left end. Once I snapped it securely in place, the print was fine again. (I had to remove that platen three times to figure that out!) Sorry for the bother, but I'm glad to know where I can seek help now. Thanks.

If it is the top half the platen has worked loose. Press down firmly on both sides it should snap into place.

Wheelwriter 30 series II. was typing OK but now get only less than half of letter to print. replaced ribbon same thing. tried adjusted ribbon (now sure was in right area) and still only printing less...

If it is printing only the tops of the letters the platen has worked loose. Press down firmly on both ends it should snap into place. If the print is generally bad the plastic print solenoid cap is probably broken. We sell them for 20.00 includes shipping and instructions.

I am only getting half of the letters, and it is stuck on del, typing how can I get it off delayed typing?

I'M assuming this is a wheelwriter 30 or similar. On the R. side of the keyboard is a key that says print mode press that and the dl prt will go off on the display. If you are only printing the tops of the letters the platen is probably not fully seated in the side frames press down firmly on both ends it should snap into place.

Only typing half letters and numbers

On the WheelWriter series, sometimes the platen may pop out of position, causing only half the letters to print. If this is the case, easially solved... Using the left and right platen knobs, firmly push down to lock it back in place. Hope this helps....MediaMan
