Hi, I just moved into a previously owned house and there's an intermatic timer in the washer/dryer closet. As far as I can tell, it is just connected to the vent fan in the closet. There's also a tube light, but that turns on independently with a switch. I pulled the dial out, as the manual (found online) said, but the intermatic timer is ticking non-stop. It almost sounds laboured now, but I might be imagining that. I have no use for this timer. I don't use the washer enough to need the fan, and there's a window nearby anyway. Is there a safe way for me to disable the timer?
I am not concerned with ticking. I am concerned with my inability to shut the fan off.
Pull out the center dial. Or just remove trippers after pulling out center dial.
That action will stop ticking sound but wire will be exposed, so cover with tape.

I already tried pulling out the dial, as I mentioned. The ticking did not stop. Removing trippers didn't do anything either, as that just stops the timer from going off. Also, removing the dial doesn't show wires. It shows a set in panel, with a white gear, a black hole, and a white and black plastic piece with springs attached. I have to remove the entire box to see the inside wiring. Any other ideas?
Replace timer with octagon box and put cover over it. Turn off power. Connect black to black and white to white.http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-selec... Attach a photo so I can see what you have. We're here to help until it's done.
I have the Intermatic E1020. This is how you turn off that annoying ticking sound. Note that this will completely disable the device, there is no other method that I have found to stop the ticking noise.
FIRST, TURN OFF THE POWER TO THAT SECTION OF THE HOME! Next unscrew the top and bottom screws to dismount it from the wall.
After that take off the back cover if you have one. I had 3 screws to take off of mine. You will see a black wire that goes from your wall to your Intermatic, this is the power source to it.
There is a small nut that holds that black wire to the Intermatic, unscrew it and the black wire should come off easily.
You now have a black wire that is not connected to the Intermatic and the annoying ticking sound will be gone when you turn the power back on, however you will also have a live black wire that will have a current through it when you turn the power back on. I highly recommend put on some type of electrical safety cap and using some electrical tape. I kept my live wire inside the Intermatic back cover for extra safety.?

SOURCE: my rain tight intermatic outdoor timer no longer switches contact
the way the message reads the timer was working and then quit. most likely the contacts or clock motor has wore out. but by u sayiing u can't get power manually i would say the contacts or relay that switches the load is bad.
i would try to buy a timer that was the same and put the guts in the old box if its alot of trouble to change out.
one other thing u can check, is the timer getting its operating power from the circuit or is the something else controlling the timer. if there is something else controlling the timer, i would check that to see if i had power there.
SOURCE: Can't figure out how to set Intermatic timer 111c up to nightlight
Hello. I can help you with this times.
Step one - insert the pins at the times you want the night light to come on and go off. The green pins will turn on the night light and the red pins will turn it off. If you just want one on time and one off time just use one pin of each color.
After you have the pins inserted, set the correct time on the timer and plug it into an outlet that is always on [not one that is controlled by a wall switch].
The override switch will turn the device off if it is on, but just one time. As the next time it turns on it will once again be controlled by the times.
If ou want the night light to come on and off in the evening and again in the morninng, use two green pins and two red pins. Push in a green pin at each time where you want the night light to come on and push in a red pin at each time you want it to go off.
Get back if you need additional clarification.

By chance did you connect both the incoming and outgoing white (neutral) wires together without also connecting them to the "A" terminal? If so, untwist them and connect both of them under the "A" terminal. The timing motor will not work if the "A" terminal is not connected to a neutral.
With the circuit energized from the breaker, you should be able to read 120 volts from the "A" terminal to the #1 terminal.
Also, check to make sure the yellow dial is pushed in and set to the correct time.
Otherwise the timer is defective and a return to the store is in order.
The wiring for the T101 is as follows:
Connect _both_ the incoming and outgoing neutrals (white) wires to the "A" terminal. The incoming [(LINE) (hot) (from the breaker or source)] black wire is connected to the #1 terminal and the outgoing (LOAD) black wire is connected to the #2 terminal.
Both of the bare or green wires are twisted together along with a 6 inch or so pigtail using a red or yellow wire nut. The pigtail is then connected to the green "GR" screw on the enclosure

Usually the timer motor is bad when that happens. Replacement timer motors are available from websites like this one:
http://www.aplussupply.com/intermatic/timermotors.htm
Be sure to get the right voltage timer motor. Intermatic T101's and T103's use a 120 volt timer motor (Cat# WG1570) and the T104 uses a 240 volt timer motor (Cat# WG1573).
If you don't want to mess around replacing the timer motor, you can purchase a new timer, and as long as the existing enclosure is in good shape, just swap out the guts.
