I would invest in a memory card reader. You can pick one up for under $20. Using a card reader allows you to avoid having to deal with drivers and such that may or may not be loaded on your PC. A card reader should work just fine for ya. Good luck

Why does camera close down when I plug USB cable to pc have replaced cable & batteries

As soon as you connect a camera to a computer, the camera shuts down, because it only can act as a "dumb" memory stick.
Only more advanced camera's and special programs allow the camera to be connected and be monitored on a computer.
Nikon has Camera Control Pro 2 for its DSLRs. Only the software is over 100 dollars.

When you have installed Kodak Picture easy software, you can connect the camera to the computer and then after you switch on the camera, you can download the pictures from the camera to the PC.

How do I download my pictures from my Sony camera to the computer?

Here is one instructional video tutorial from Sony Support; also could try this procedure:
- Take off your memory stick from your camera and insert it into your memory stick adapter. Open your camera's battery case and gently push the memory stick until you hear a faint "click," then remove it from the camera. Place the memory stick inside the adapter that comes with your camera.
- Insert the adapter into your computer's memory card reader, if you have one. The adapter, which is larger than the memory stick itself, is approximately the same size as an ordinary SD memory card.
- Connect your Sony digital camera to your computer using its USB cable if you can't find or don't have a memory stick adapter. Insert the small end of the USB cable into the camera. Insert the wider, flatter end into one of your computer's USB ports.
- Click "Open Device to View Files" to open your memory stick or camera. Search for the DCIM folder and click on it. Navigate through any photo subdirectories you've created and highlight photos you want to transfer to your computer. Right-click anywhere in a given folder, then click "Copy." Go to the location where you want to store your images, then right-click within that folder. Click "Paste" to transfer your images.

Hope this helps (remember to rate and comment this answer).

I have a photo stored in the internal memory of the camera, not on a memory card. Is there any way to transfer the photo to a computer or memory stick? Thanks.

You would have to have either a removable memory card or an adapter cable that connects the camera to your computer in order to transfer the photo.

The memory card is not showing my pictures when i plug my camera into my laptop

Hi,

Please follow the steps below for connecting the Camera to the Computer for transferring the images.

Turn the Camera ON.

Turn the Computer ON.

Make sure to Insert the Memory Stick in the Camera.

Set the USB CONNECT option in the Setup 2 Menu of the Camera to PTP. [Set the Mode dial of the Camera to Camera, press the Menu button, select SETUP-->SETUP2-->USB CONNECT-->PTP-->OK.]

Connect the Camera to the Computer using the supplied USB cable.

The Computer will automatically install the USB Driver for the Camera.

When the installation completes, an AutoPlay window will appear.

In the AutoPlay window, click the Import Pictures option.

In the Importing Pictures and Videos window, click the Import button.

If the USB connection from the camera is not recognized by the computer, disconnect the USB cable and repeat changing the USB CONNECT option to PictBridge, Mass Storage or Auto.

If the issue persists, try connecting to a different USB port on the Computer.

Try re-installing the USB Driver from the Device Manager.

Good Luck!

No space left on memory stick.

Hello Sir\Madam,
Most digital cameras do have an internal memory which may be minimal or too small to store your pictures or videos, because of this memory stick/card are always good for storing pictures and videos due to the fact that it has enough spaces to store you data. And you can easily transfer your picture from your camera to your personal computer by using the USB cable that came with your camera. As soon as u connect it to your computer, it will detect it and automatically install the driver that will make the connection to work well, or better still install first on to your system the software that came with your camera for easy connection of your camera to your computer, then on the camera, select "Mass Storage" from the USB connection mode, automatically your memory stick or card will be detected on your computer and you can them open the folder where all your pictures is stored to retrieve then to your computer. If you have any problem with this, don't hesitate to inform me back

How do you get images onto the computer from the memory stick or print pictures

You should be able to use a USB cable to connect the device to a computer, or take the memory stick from the device and use an adapter with your computer to access it like a flash drive or external hard drive. If you are using an SDHC memory card, you must buy a SDHC compatible adapter and meet the criteria for the adapter.

Computer won't read memory stick

SCMG - You won't be inserting it into your modem. But if the card fits snuggly and it seems to fit right, then you're probably where you need to be.

For all of you - it may be easier to connect the camera directly to the computer to download the pictures. All cameras come with the appropriate cable to connect the camera to a USB port. All you need to do is make the connection and then put the camera into "review" mode to view the pictures and Windows should automatically see the camera and ask if you want to download the pictures off of it.
