Could be a bad motherboard? If your power supply was really fried it could have also fried your motherboard.

Dell Dimension 5100c Model: DCCY will not boot.

Hi,

Is the power button a steady abmber light?

If so follow the instruction below>>>>

Remove the power cord from the back of the computer. Then open the side casing of the tower and unplug the 24 pin block connector from the motherboard. The 24 pin block connector looks like this >>>>>

Once removed press the on/off button on the computer to dispel and residual power from the motherboard.
Then connect the block connector again and put the side panel back on and then plug the power cord back in and try to boot the computer up.

If its still the same then the power supply inside the computer may need replacing.

Good luck.

Computer will not turn on at all. Dell Dimension 5100 desktop

I would unplug the power supply from the motherboard, wait a little while and then plug it back in.
Try to power everything back up and it should come up.

I am assuming you are getting a light on the motherboard that indicates power is being supplied?

Dell 5100 won't come up after memory swap

Did you make sure that the power supply was off and or discontected from power source before opening the case?

It is possible that you have fried something by having a static discharge either from you hands or the vacume cleaner hose. Have you checked the correct installation of the memory make sure you are putting the original memory in dimm1 and dimm2.

Also check that the power button is still connected to the mother board just follow the wire from the back of the button just to be sure. Also check that the power switch on th power supply is on.

Dell Dimension 5100 Won't start up

Hi

First disconnecting the power cord and re-seat all connections (Keyboard, Mouse espercially). Connect up the power cord and try powering the PC.

To help you troubleshoot a problem, Dell Dimension 5100 has four diagnostic lights labeled "1," "2," "3," and "4" on the front panel. When the computer starts normally, the lights flash. After the computer starts, all four lights display solid green. If the computer malfunctions, the color and sequence of the lights identify the problem.

If the computer failed to start up check the diagnostic lights color and sequence and Check the link below for more info (Assuming you have another system that can access internet)
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim5100/en/sm/tshoot1.htm#wp1120147

Alternatively, contact Dell Support with the diagnostic lights color and sequence to raise a service call if the system if under warranty.
