to be frank about this query, windows 7 does not have proper drivers for most of the device, which win XP and vista supports.
it is new operating system and it is still not fully supported by most of the previous versons of windows.
only solution is to down grade your system (laptop) to vista so that it will be compatible.
keyboard closure is only compatible with windows XP. if you are using xp and you get this error then it is maybe you have SP2 or SP3. if it is giving you trouble then it is better to remove it
i guess f1, f2, and all the function keys are given with added fn key in the left corner of the keypad. search for the blue icon with fn in the keypad. that should solve it. press fn along with the key you want to use.
but if you want to use tha additional features of function key like save, load, close and many more then you can get the software directly from official website of sony. alternativel you can download hotkeycontrol xp by which you can reconfigure you keyboard to add extra feature and options
You will have a tough time, but there is a Sony XP utility driver out there that will take care of your problem. I do not have it, but know it is available. Here are some that I have found for you.
The volume button, brightness key, and disc
eject button on some computers will not work if the HotKey Utility
application is not running.
The Magnify button and the Fn keys will not function properly before the operating system has finished starting.
The setting may not be saved if the ESC key is used to close the Fn display. Press the ENTER key or allow the Fn display to close automatically to save the setting.
Click the Start button, then click Run .
In the Run window, next to Open , type MSCONFIG .
Press the ENTER key.
In the System Configuration Utility window, click the Startup tab.
On the Startup tab, under Startup Item , ensure that there is a check in the HKserv checkbox. NOTE: If HKserv is missing, reinstall the HotKey Utility application and the Sony Utilities Library.
Click the OK button.
In the System Configuration box, click the restart button.
