Open nat type

428b8481-75b3-474f-9875-922bcf403459.jpg

I take this is your type of network you have. NAT (Network Address Translation) only job is make all the IP's of you LAN to be able to use the one IP From the ISP. For example, you can have 3 Pc's connected to router (192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.3) with only one connection to ISP, and address like 67.123.43.200 (Address change upon ISP location).
In order to the game communicate between PC ans Internet have to configure Ports to connect to. Thanks to UPNP (Universall Plug and Play) this configuration is made automatically between the PC and the Router and simplifies those configurations.

Things to check:
The router have UPNP and is on.
There's a Firewall interfering with the game.

My nat type is strict and when i try to play my PS3 i have connection issues. How would i get my nat type to be open?

Zyxel routers don't support Nat 2 confirgurations for the PS3 software. You can fix some issues by powrforwarding the speciffic ports that the PSN uses. To do so follow this ismple guide:
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/ZyXEL/P-660HW-D1/PlayStation_Network.htm

It may vary from game to game so you should choose what speciffic product are you trying to use here:

I want to change nat type from strict to open when I play Black Ops. My router is a Thomson TG585 v8. How can I do that? Thank You in advance

Step 1: Get your Xbox 360's IP address from the system blade and choose network settings. Then edit settings should show your Xbox's IP.

Step 2: Go into your routers configuration window thru Internet Explorer. In the address bar type in your routers IP address. It should be default at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1. When you're prompted for a password you have found it =P. If you haven't changed it the username and password should both be admin, and admin.

Step 3: USING DMZ When you enter into your router config window, you need to find the Tab DMZ, it should be under applications and gaming if you are using Linksys. Once you find the DMZ tab, click enable and type in the last digits of your XBOX into the box below. Yes when you do this you are opening all the ports on your Xbox, which is insecure, but show me someone that has hacked into an xbox 360?

Step 4:Using Port Fowarding After you have enabled DMZ, find the Port Fowarding tab, should be under advanced routing. For the name type in XBL or whatever you want, and for port range put 87 to 89, choose UDP, then your XBOX last digits, and enable. Then do 3073 to 3075 choose TCP, then your XBOX last digits, and enable. Then again do 3073 to 3075 choose UDP, then your XBOX last digits, and enable.

Step 5:Using UPnP This is just incase. Go into UPnP fowarding and enter in the same stuff you did for Step 4.

Step 6: Now logout of your router config. Unplug your router and modem from the power, then plug in the router 1st, wait 30 seconds. Then plug in the modem and wait at least 2 minutes. If you don't do these hard restarts it might not work!

Step 7: Restart your Xbox and go to the system blade, choose network settings, then test connection. This may take a bit, but when it gets down to NAT type it should say OPEN. If not, sorry. You can just undo all the settings we changed, you can just uncheck enabled on the port fowarding. or if you want to restore your router to the factory defaults just push the reset button on the back of it.

Once again this may not work for everyone, but it worked for me and my friends, so good luck.

Im having a zyxel wireless usb adapter and im playing alot of games. and i have to change my nat or whats it called to open network. how do i do?

If the ZyXEL device you have is a USB adapter then that is not the device you need to look at to change NAT settings. Either the wireless router or possibly your modem will need to be set up to allow the ports your games need in order to connect. Which ever device you have with the internet connection coming to it is where you will need to look at changing settings.

Cant connect to others or friends due to NAT settings on forza motorsport 3

you need to forward ports on your router. alternatively many routers have upnp (universal plug and play) to automatically do this and the xbox supports this, but some routers come with upnp disabled by default. i would first go into your router/modem and search for a upnp setting and enable it. if this is not possible or does not work here are some sites to help you with the process of configuring your router.
http://portforward.com/english/applications/port_forwarding/XboxLive360/XboxLive360index.htm
http://sites.google.com/site/techhubsite/gaming/getting-an-open-nat-for-xbox-live-with-port-fowarding-or-dmz
here is a list of microsoft certified compatible routers, which likely means they have an effective UPNP implementation and have been tested to support multiple xbox's at once.
http://support.xbox.com/en-us/pages/xbox-live/get-started/connecting/network-hardware-compatible-xbox-live.aspx
if you are using telco or cable equipment you may need to contact them or go to the router usually .1 or .254 on your nat range (ex. 192.168.1.1) and see if you can get into it, often times its user pass admin/admin or admin/password or some such default, i would bet googling your equipment model will turn up a way to get into it.

How do i lower the NAT settings on a WRT54GX router so i can play xbox live without restrictions on it? When i test the connection on the xbox it says the NAT settings are too high and will not let me join...

You are trying to open the NAT on the router for X-box.
For this you will need to reduce the MTU settings on the router to 1365.
You will also need to trigger some ports on the router.
For this you will need to open the router set up page.
Router set up page is the page where you can change the settings of the router

Cant to get a friend to join online playing Smackdown vs Raw 2008

There is usually two reasons for this.

The first one is the game is just having server problems.

The second one is usually the problem and that has to do with your router settings causing you to have a 'NAT Type 3' connection which can cause connection issues with other players.

Having a closed or limited NAT on your gaming console will cause a variety of issues. Similar to strict, moderate or open on an Xbox 360, the PS3 offers Type 3, Type 2 and Type 1 NAT results. These break down as follows:
Type 1 - Connected directly to the internet (no router/firewall). Should have no issues.Type 2 - Connected through a router properly. Should have no issues.Type 3 - Connected through a router without open ports or DMZ setup for PS3. Everything should function properly, but you may have connection, voice chat or other issues. While most everything will function properly regardless of what your NAT setting is, your best bet is to set up your PS3 so that you can obtain a Type 1 or Type 2 NAT. Since most of us have routers at home for connecting multiple computers or devices to the internet, chances are the best we will get will be Type 2. Thankfully that's fine and everything will work properly.

If you have not adjusted your settings on your PS3 or router, chances are you have a Type 3 NAT and probably never knew it. With a few simple changes you too can have a Type 2 NAT. Order now for just $19.99. But wait, there's more. joker.gif

The first thing you will want to do is check your network connection. Head on over to the Network Settings tab on the XMB. It looks like this:

81f2d771623f487a81a535cdadc3645f.jpg

Once there choose the Internet Connection Test item. It looks like this:

7fc2a4f7dabe45bdb7aa0c69802adec5.jpg

You will receive a warning letting you know that you will be signed out in order to perform the test. Choose okay. If you have not made any setting changes in your PS3 or Router, chances are you will receive the following message:

9d1a308a38cf466dac7c0c8066a9b85a.jpg
The warning reads: "When the NAT type is type 3, chat or the communication features of games may be restricted. For more information, refer to the online instruction manual."

If you run the test and have Type 2 or Type 1, stop fooling around and go play some games! If, however, you have Type 3, read on for help on opening up your NAT.

In order to open up your NAT on your PS3 you will need to make an adjustment on your PS3 and on your router. First you will want to set up your PS3 for a static IP address. This means turning off DHCP and assigning your PS3 a single, static IP address. Before you start this process head over to the network tab on the XMB and choose "Internet Connection Status." From here note your current IP address, your subnet mask, your default router and primary and secondary DNS settings. Write these down, you will need them in the following steps.

To do this, visit the Internet Connection Settings tab on the XMB. It looks like this:

da972233d5644141a5c5e1ede940d352.jpg

From here most of the settings can simply be passed through with default settings. There are two areas, however, that you have to change. The first is choosing a Custom address setting (instead of Easy).

ef168db6a4de4bf2b898c79a0eee6b9e.jpg

From here, you will want to choose Manual IP Address Setting:

65f9f0de4b704e45b7b1dc99d1bde5e2.jpg

Remember the settings you wrote down from your status page? You will need them here. You will have to enter in the static IP Address you want to assign to your PS3, the Subnet Mask (which is usually 255.255.255.0), the default router (the IP address of your router, most often 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.100.1), and the Primary and Secondary DNS settings. You will have to input all of these numbers. This is made much easier with a DVD Remote or keyboard.

Please NOTE - You will want to set the last number of your IP address high enough that other wireless or wired items on your network will not be assigned the same number through DHCP. While DHCP had chosen .3 as an IP address for my PS3 initially, I bumped it up to .23 because I have less than 23 items in my network. If you do not have DHCP enabled on your router, you do not need to worry about this and can simply choose an IP address that does not conflict with your other devices and which is available through your router.

83f1d6dec23e4658a9870e9262728bb0.jpg

Once you have all of the settings input, press X to save them. Your settings will change and the PS3 will offer to perform an Internet Connection Test for you. If you let it do the test now chances are you will still get a Type 3 NAT connection. Don't fret little bear, we still have one more step.

In addition to making the necessary changes on your PS3, you will also have to open up some ports on your router. The ports you need to open are:

TCP: 80, 443, 5223
UDP: 5223, 3478, 3479, 3658

I have a Linksys Router and my port forward settings page looks like this:

59c653fed8fa4b6d97dc2d0b7b7f0d13.jpg

Depending on what type of router you have, your settings page may look different. In order to obtain an open or Type 2 NAT, you will need to open those ports listed above.

You can see in my screen capture that my PS3 is listed with its static IP address that I set above (.23) and that all of the necessary ports are forwarded to that IP address. The X listed items above (.24) are for my Xbox 360 so you don't have to worry about those.

Once you have forwarded these ports and saved your settings its a good idea to unplug and plug back in your router. This will refresh everything on your network connected to your router. Once done head back to your PS3 and perform an Internet Connection Test. If you did everything correctly you should receive the following page:

ed44497e4808423ea9cdf6a8ea35fd96.jpg

Congratulations, your NAT is now setup and working properly!

My PS3 has no NAT Type!!

there is something known as NAT strict that can happen due to many reasons , NAT or network address translator helps in converting the WAN ip address to LAN side IP address or public to private ipaddress . In a case of NAT strict or no NAT type ur PS3 or the router to which you have connected the PS3 is not able to convert the IP address...
Solution: try logging on to the router manager or PS3 settings and enable the NAT ( it would be in a disabled state or DMZ ( de militarized zone ) state )....
If the nat is already enabled Then try to manually configure NAT by opening the port numbers on the router manager or PS3. Port numbers can of UP or TCP protocol depending upon the games ur tyring to play....
If u donno how u do it then contact sony or the people who gave u the router or ur ISP
