Screensaver will not come on

I have a PL713S monitor that I have had for about 3 yrs. I cannot get the screensaver to come on. I have tried everything I can think of - no luck. Every once in a while it will come on for a few seconds but after I use the computer it will not come back on. Does anyone have an idea on how to fix this? Thanks

I have an emachine about 3 years kept shutting off by it's self.....I determined it was either a cpu fan or the powersupply......I installed a new 300 watt ATX pentium 4 power supply.....this has stopped the continuous shutdowns.....only problem is now....I have no screen's set to come on after 15 minutes of no use.....I have tried changing all the settings but still no luck......I have a HP w1907 monitor.....and before I changed the power supply......the screen saver always worked.....any Ideas???

Try connecting another moniter, and see if you still have the same problem. If you still have the problem with the other moniter its most likely your OS

I cannot find the power cord to my monitor. Where can I get a new one?

The power cord can be purchased at a computer shop of your choice, standard 3 pin power cable. Same as that used for the power to your computer.

My screen keeps going black any ideas?

If it's not showing anything and goes to sleep mode, then did you try to select the proper input from the monitor's on-screen menu?
Otherwise I can't help you unless you are more specific - when does it go black, right away or after 10 minutes of watching a movie for example?...

Monitor picture turns on its side when it goes to screensaver

Sounds like your screensaver is using a picture of your desktop in it's code intentionally.

Right click on a blank area of your desktop --> select properties

--> click screensaver --> change it to "none" or another screensaver

Dell monitor screen jumps and screensaver won't ever turn on.

first turn hibernate off. this is probably causing problem with your screensaver. when you say your screen jumps that leads me to believe that your monitor is probably on its way out. If you can try to hook up a diffferent monitor and see if you have the same results

Beware this monitor! PL713s

Probably a good solution. 17" LCD's are pretty inexpensive these days and probably cost as much to diagnose and fix this one. You can purchase on-line as well. Good luck
