White dots, multiplying daily. - Samsung DLP HL-P5663W 56" TV

  • ocoutsider May 16, 2009

I had one dot appear yesterday and and I see a 2nd dot today. I have 50 in DLP that I purchased in January 2007. I'm afraid this is just the start. If there is definitely a class action suit, I'm definitely joining in!

This more or less means you have a bad hdmi plug, unlug it from your cable box and watch what it does if your tv automatically goes to the waiting screen and the white dots re apear its The hdmi plug, so the hdmi plug needs to be replaced...they arent cheap maybe 40-75.oo depending on how nice of pic you want

Here is a link for your solution, it's your DLP chip. samsung denies it's a problem, but there are HUNDREDS of us with the same issue.

SOURCE: little white dots appear on screen-they are

I'm guessing you have a Samsung rear projection tv. This is a common problem on them and can be repaired by having the DLP chip replaced. Samsung is covering the cost to repair tis problem on certain models. You can call 1-800-samsung to find out if it is covered and the nearest service center.

How do I fix the white spots on the screen of my samsung model HL-S4286W. The white dots keep multiplying. Is there a repair manual for this that you know of?

It is not a user repairable fault. It can be repaired. Contact the authorized service center for Samsung.

3 white pixel dots on the screen, just replaced my bulb.

If the white pixel dots start to multiply then Problem will be in the DMD board or the Light Engine.

I have white and black spots on my 65in hd1080p what is it tv is on 2 years old

Hi, I have a mitsubishi 65" DLP model # 65733 that I bought in December 2007 brand new, about six months ago I started spoting white dots on my screen that started blinking and then became permanent, thinking is was dust I cleaned everything inside with compressed air without success.
The stars multiply daily to a point that it was intolerable to watch anything with all the white stars and a few black ones that showed up.
We called mitsubishi but got no where, I was out of warranty. (they still deny having a problem with their DLP's)

I had a service tech inspect the tv and was told it could run about $800 to $1000 to replace the light engine with refurbished parts with 90 day warranties.

Researching on line I came across a DLP chip that is compatible with several mitsubishi and samsung models, so I decided to chance it, and replace just the DMD chip before we trash the tv, it was unthinkable to pay $800 to repair a tv that we could buy now for under $900.
Thanks God the "gamble" paid out and the problem got solve with just $150 DLP chip in about 15 minutes of my time.
If you are not mechanically nor electronically inclined, I recommend you use a technician for the installation, but don't let anyone tell you you need to replace the whole light engine, it is a ripoff.
If your problem is just white or black dots on the screen that do not move.......this will solve your problem!!

P.S. Hope this will help you and for the record..... "I will never buy a mitsubishi product again".

4 year old 60inch sony flat screen purchased in 2005

sounds like heat got to the optical block, there are some websites that can give you prices on rebuilt opt units, but i suggest that you take a look at the sony website and check the factory recall section to see if there are any re-calls on your particular model. These optical units are kind of expensive.
