Question about Hitachi 50UX57B 50" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

No picture It started by the tv turning it's off after being turned on for 20 min. I turned it back on and it stayed on. The TV hadn't been turned on after that for a month. When I turned it on it immediately turned off. This time it stayed off about 15 min. before it came back on. The TV went off went off again an has not come back on again. I can still here clicking in the TV each time I press the on&off button.

Thank you for the quick response. This TV is at my lake house so it will be a while before I get the opportunity to address the problem. More than likely I will have a tach come out and handle the repairs. I will keep you posted.

It sounds like something has come loose in that set. I have seen that happen in those sets before. There is a transistor mounted on a heat sink by the horizontal circuits, and the solder joints on its legs crack and loosen. If you have experience pulling the chassis out of projection sets and resoldering boards, then resolder all the major components on the sweep board, especially the parts mounted on heat sinks. If you do not have experience then allow a qualified tech to handle it for you.

TV wont turn on sometimes. push the on button, light turns from red to blue but no display or sound. If I disconnect the power cord for 15-20 min and plug it back in to the tv it will turn on and stay

My Samsung started doing that and it got worst and worst. Searched the web and find answer. It was the high voltage circuit. All TVs now are like computer and it check for 390 to 400 volts and if it is below, the TV will not turn on. Good thing the Samsung has only one capacitor showing the high voltage circuit. Measure the voltage was 381 volts. The capacitor was rated at 100 uf at 450 volts. From some old TV and power supply, got two capacitors rated 150 uf and 220 uf both at 400 volts. Had to connect them in parallel and took out the old capacitor. Now, my TV works fine.

After tv is on for approx 20-30 mins it starts to make a loud high pitched squeal or whine. once turned off for approx 10-15 mins can turn it back on for another 20-30 mins before squeal will return....

Sounds like a problem I had with a Polaroid t.v. Take the cover off the back and look for capactors that are buldging on the top. The top should be slightly concave. If they are convex at all, you can buy new one at Radio Shack and replace them for under $5.00

I had a similar problem and got a TV repair man to fix it for real cheap. The whole fixing took less then 30 min and he goes to your house to fix the TV. He fixed it for an excellent price that left us astonished. He lives in NY. Email me if anyone needs his contact information. You wont be disappointed.
