Question about Panasonic TH-42PD25U/P 42 in. Plasma EDTV

2 Answers

Panasonic TH-42PD25 TV plays great until we switch to video 1 or video 2 input. When switching to video 1 or 2 input we loose about 5 inches on the right hand of screen (looks like noise on the screen if no device is active /on). If we play a dvd on either video 1 or 2 the video the noise bar becomes solid black and the game / dvd works fine just loose 5 inches of viewing from the right. Any suggestion would be grateful.

This is a known problem. Panasonic sells a jig to correct it. I had the same problem and bought the jig for $60. It plugs into a special port in the back of the tv behind a little door. You can read all about it here: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthrea... if you want, contact me by replying and I can mail you the jig temporarily for $10 plus S&H. You'll save money and it worked for me, i just need it back.

The solid red light and the glow of the screen indicated the set is on . also if set is on a red light should be emmiting from the optical out jack. Seem like you have lost audio and video. If no menu appears when pressed on remote the replace the main board. Panasonic calls this the A board.

I need a Panasonic TV TH-42PD25 base stand! I've searched ebay, no luck. This might sound dumb, but can I use base stands from any of the other Panasonic 42" models?

You maybe lucky, but make sure the mounting holes on the stand matches your TV.
Alternately you can use a wall mounting and these have mounting holes that suit most TVs.

I have an old panasonic plasma tv model number TH-42PD25 and I can get audio but no video for my cable and I dont know if the kids played with it and its a programming problem or if it is just messed up. I...

Could be a number of causes: Someone may have changed the input setting or maybe the TV tuner went bad.. the good news is you can use the cable box tuner instead. If you need the user manual you can find it here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/opermanpdf/TH37PD25.pdf. Just set it all back up and make sure everything is powered up.. the cable box , the TV , the audio system if seperate.

How to get dvb chanels on my tv ?

If you're talking about the DVD then it will depend on what input you have it plugged in to. Follow the cable from your DVD player to your tv and read the name of the plug it is labled with. Hit TV/Video on your remote several times until it gets to that lable on the screen. example, If you have you DVD plugged in to Video 1, hit tv/video button on your remote or on your tv until the cursor highlights video 1. Movie should play.

Make sure if your using the video input jacks, that the yellow is plugged into Video 1 and the same with the audio.Red & White. If your using Component, they are color coded- Red Blue & Green along with the Audio In -Red & White. It sounds like you have the video in the wrong jack.

Are you using component video cables? If so, check that these aren't loose on either end. Next I'd consider that whatever video cable/input might be bad, and switch cable or cable type... i.e. switch from component to HDMI or vice-versa. Then change up the source (cable box versus DVD player). If you're still seeing blue at this point, the TV internals are the bad.

I have a TH-42PD25 TV. It turned off by itself. The red light on the front control panel is blinking. The TV is not responding to the power button on the remote or the front of the TV.

Here is a link to your users manual
http://service.us.panasonic.com/opermanpdf/TH37PD25.pdf

If youre using a PC or HDMI, the manual suggests this :

Rarely, the TV will not display video in
HDMI input from devices with HDMI or DVI
output due to bad communication between the
TV and the devices. Should this happens, unplug
the HDMI/DVI device and plug it back on.
