Question about Kenmore 24 in. 16462 / 16464 / 16469 Built-in Dishwasher

1 Answer

Can't set time delay.

I've had this dishwasher for 2 years and it has never been a problem. Just recently I can't set a time delayed wash anymore. I used to hit Smart Wash, then set a time delay, 2,4, or 8 hours, and then hit Start and it would automatically kick on at the right time. Now as soon as I hit Smart Wash the machine starts to run, without even hitting Start. If anybody has a solution it would be much appreciated. Thank you. Ron.

I checked the start button it doesn't seem to be stuck. I think if the start button was shorted or stuck, the machine would start as soon as I closed the door.I'm not sure of that though. Many thanks for the suggestion though.

Hey Krazytech. Yes it does start without pressing Start in all the other cycles as well. Also some lights flash that I'm not sure should be flashing. The red light by the number 4 flashes and the drying light flashes but it still seems to go through a normal wash cycle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

OK if it starts with out pressing start in the other cycles, Antibacterial,Pots & Pans ,Normal Wash , China/Gentle ,Quick Rinse Wash or only in SMART Wash?
Sounds like a bad relay on the control if only in the Smart wash cycle the I would look at the turbidity sensor? hope this is some help... let me know?

if it's only 3 months old then it's still well under warranty, call either the manufacturer, the place where you bought it or who installed it and it will be fixed for free or replaced.

How do you get the Codes? for GU1500XTL Dishwasher. Only buttons that work are: Anti Baterial, Pots n Pans, Delay Start, Air Dry, and Cancel. We normally use NORMAL. Need Codes and Wiring Diag. Thanks Walt

I am having the same issue. Did you find a solutions? Looks like websites I've searched talk about resetting the controls by hitting either high temp wash -> airdry -> high temp wash -> air dry OR saniwash -> air dry -> saniwash -> air dry. I'll have to try that tonight.

I am trying to clean earthen pottery plates in my dish washer and after washing half of the plates disappear.

The Kenmore PRO also has an Ultra Wash Filtration High Energy Filtration System that helps the majority of us with hard water. It features 2 spray arms, and a Turbozone that blasts away the most gunked up items you can make a mess on.

The Kenmore PRO also features 6 cycles. The High Energy Smart Wash Cycle is the most advanced and versatile. It actually senses the load size, soil amount, toughness of soil and uses minimal water and energy. The Smart Wash Cycle runs from 110 minutes to a max of 194 depending on toughness of soil and uses from 4.2 gallons of water to 6.9.

The Pots Pans Cycle also makes some adjustments depending on soil level and takes from 140 minutes to 203 minutes to complete. It uses 4.8 to 6.9 gallons of water.

There is also a self-adjusting Normal Cycle that runs from 110 minutes to 193 minutes and uses 4.2 gallons to 6.9 gallons of water.

The Kenmore PRO also has a self-adjusting China Gentle Cycle that provides a light wash and gentle dry for delicate items and runs from 105 minutes to 194 minutes and uses 4.2 gallons to 6.9 gallons of water.

It also has a 1 Hour Wash that runs for 58 minutes and uses 8.0 gallons of water and a 15 minute Quick Rinse Cycle that uses 2.1 galllons of water.

The Kenmore PRO also has 5 other options that are additional to the Cycles. Each option adds time and water to the selected cycle. They are:

TurboZone, HI Temp Wash which raises the water temperature to 120 degrees F, a Steam Sanitize which raises the final rinse to 155 degrees F, a Top-Rack Only Option, and a Heated Dry Option.

The Kenmore PRO also has a Delay Option that allows you to run the dishwasher on off-peak hours and delays the start time up to 6 hours.

I have not field-tested all these options yet, becaue I am such a skeptic -- and picky about my dishes, I usually go ahead and always use the TurboZone, the Hi-Temp Wash, the Steam Sanitizer, and the Heated Dry Option. But, hey if you are plunking down $1500 for a dishwasher--you should make use of all your options. I'll keep this review up-to-date as my dates with the Kenmore PRO progress with dinner parties and my very precious china, but for now (mostly because of the "ClangBanger") our good china is safely stored in the cabinets.

Dishwasher ran all night still not finished. Error code 4H displaying.

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly. The 4H is indicating your dishwasher is in the delayed wash start mode. Here is some information from Sears about what to do:

  • The number letter combination indicates that the dishwasher is in a "Delay Start" mode, as well as how many hours were set for the delay start.
  • The dishwasher will not start the wash until it reaches the delayed hour that it was set for. Example: 1H = 1 hour delay start, 2H = 2 hour delay start, etc.
    • To start the dishwasher immediately and not wait for the Delay Start time, cancel the "Delay Start" option, by pressing the Cancel button. Then program the cycle and options and press Start.
    • To start the dishwasher after the Delay time, select the cycle and options desired. Select the "Delay Start" option and on some dishwashers it requires, pressing the Start button.
    • Some dishwashers will display a countdown of the delay time on the display.
Note: Refer to the Owner's Manual or Use & Care Guide for specific instructions on using the "Delay Start" feature.

If you need more assistance we will need your exact model number in any of your future responses.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Here again is my model and serial it stops in the middle of the cleaning cycle Kenmore 665.16773402 serial # ft0302854 Here is how I have been resetting the dishwasher. I hit the following sequence of...

Door latch.
Open and close the door to make sure the door latch is securely fastened

Hi-Temp Wash, Hi-Temp Rinse, or Sanitize options.
Some models have options that may require a water heating delay, such as Hi-Temp Wash, Hi-Temp Rinse, or Sanitize. Additional time may be required to heat the water to the proper temperature. The dishwasher will continue to circulate water during this heating delay but the timer will not advance until the proper temperature is reached

Hi daryano

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber

You want to know how to get the delay to work?

Most models work this way: Washing dishes the first time sets the favorites and the next time you start it the favs come on automatically provided you haven't changed the settings. So after the first use just hit delay and nothing else and when the dalay time is up it should work fine.
