Question about Spherex Xbox 5.1 Surround Sound System Computer Speakers
My Spherex XBOX surround sound system won't stay on. If I flip the on switch and then turn on the power with the remote control it stays on for about ten seconds and then turns itself off. I can't figure it out and the company is no help. Any ideas?
Mr. Vargas is right mine also won't turn on and upon further inspection I found burn discoloration on the boad where the two power cables are connected. The burn spot is where the four diodes are locaed and the big power cable connection. I am not sure how to replace these diodes or where to find them. Never done this stuff but will try for sure. Please post if you have any suggestions. thanks

I had to go to a bigger diode to fix my problem, I went with part number 276-1144 (3amps/400PIV).

Good Day Everyone.
I acquired said speakers off a family member
with the same problems. Spherex went out of business but the main head
company exists in Canada. I spoke to a representative from the head
office, the spherex xbox system suffers from cold solder issues and
catches fire because of it. When I pulled of the assembly off the sub
woofer box, I noticed that on the board the sub woofer speaker and
power transformer are connected to, it had burn marks on where a bank
of 4 diodes and power resister are connected. That area needs to be
resoldered to adjoining solder spots. this will stop problems with
power and sound issues. P.S Make sure diodes didn't burn out. Audio
Products International (API) still has parts for sale.

That is easy, something is causing it to overheat and the system has a self shutdown. If you can keep the unit on without it shutting down than it is not a heat issue. First check for heat issue. Make sure it is getting enough air flow or that it is not clogged. Find your warranty, you likely have a power problem if it is not heat.

I have the same problem but I doubt it is heat as the sub unit that houses all the electics is sealed hand does not have any ventilation...
I bought my Xbox Surround Dound System last Feb. 2007, st Futureshop, and I'm having the same shutdown problems as the others. It worked fine for about 2 months and then WHAM! - it starts shutting down after about 10 secs. I'm not mechanical/technical so I'm stumped as well. But, I will check for the soldering issue to see what I can see and let you know.

my spherex keeps making small banging noises during playback, don't understand what the problem is, more of an irritation at the moment but worried it will get worse over time, help?
