Question about Canon PowerShot A710 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

No visual when I turn the camera on

I've just deleted all images on the camera. Now I can't see a visual in shooting or playback modes. Just a blank screen. I tried taking a picture - still no visual. I tried to download this picture to PC and its just a black image... I've tried switching off and on again several times with no joy. Anyone know why?

I am experiencing the same problem.  When taking photos, a blank black screen displays and when turning camera to view mode, its just a black screen.  Can view old photos from another memory card, but no new photos can be taken/seen.  Does anyone have a solution?

This may seem crazy, but any chance you pushed the display button by accident? This toggles the screen on/off.

Try putting the card in the card reader on your computer to check if images are being recorded then you may need a repair.

I HAVE A NEW POWER SHOT SX130 IS (CANNON0 I DO NOT KNOW HOW TODELETE THE DOWNLOADED PICTURES FROM THE MEMORY CARD

You can delete photos from your SX130 IS in two ways:
To Delete Photos Individually:
  1. Press Playback Mode button (looks like a play button and is located on the top right on the LCD-side of your camera)
  2. The last image you took will appear on the LCD screen.
  3. Use the Left & Right arrow keys or turn scroll wheel to cycle through your images
  4. Once you find an image you want to delete, press the Trash button. The image will be erased.
  5. Press the Playback Mode button or the FUNC/SET buttons to exit when done
To Delete ALL Photos
  1. Press the MENU button (bottom right button on LCD-side of camera) to bring up the Menu screen
  2. On the Playback tab (Looks like a Play button icon), use the arrow buttons or turn scroll wheel to scroll down to Erase. Press the FUNC/SET button.
  3. You now have three options Select, Select Range, and All images. Select will allow you to delete individual images, Select Range will allow you to select a series of images, and All images will delete all images from memory. This last one is the option we are looking for.
  4. Use the arrow keys or scroll wheel to choose All images
  5. Use the arrow key or scroll wheel to select OK when the Erase confirmation screen pops up.
  6. Your images will be erased!

I have a Canon IXUS 960 IS. The screen shows no image when taking a photo yet shows menu information and works fine for playback. Is this a fault or have I accidently made a wrong setting somewhere. Any...

Try pressing "DISP." which is the small button on the bottom left under the thumb-wheel. That turns on or off the LCD in shooting mode. In Playback mode, it shows shooting information etc.

Need to delete memory

You need to remove the memory card from the camcorder and place it into a pc or photo shops computer. This will allow you to view the saved items on the memory card. You can then save these to disc and delete the contents on the card.

Powershot S1 IS trouble shooting in images of lcd monitor

Try playing back pictures you know were captured properly ( either with another properly working camera or with your camera before the problem with quality has appeared ). If the image is ok in playback but 'noisy' in capture mode then the CCD sensor is faulty /on its way out. Ask Canon if they repair CCD faults on this model free of charge.

Shooting mode will not operate

Your camera has a defective CCD imager. Please return the camera to Canon in New Jersey and they will replace the CCD at no charge to you. This is a known issue and should be covered under extended warranty. Good luck my friend. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org

LCD Monitor on ,and the Electronic Viewfinder turned off

If you turn on the back LCD, the electronic viewfinder will remain on while in a shooting mode. There is no setting on the camera to use only the back LCD monitor while shooting. If you playback images in the Play mode, only the LCD monitor will turn on. However, if you press the Monitor button while in the Play mode, than the back LCD monitor will turn off. The image will display only in the viewfinder LCD.
