Al Tech Mediagate MG350D

I just got this unit two days ago. First night it booted ok but last night I just got the blue light flashing. Apparently this has something to do with corrupt firmware. Any ideas how one can fix this, reload the firmware or whatever one can do.I suppose I'll have to send the unit back to get fixed or replaced, but what if the same happens in the future? It seems a lot of people experienced this problem with this unit. Any ideas or help will be appreciated. I read one comment which says one can reload the firmware using some serial connection which I can see in the box.

hi having same problem on mg35 which is 2 yrs old
wkd perfectly till now Just starts up with blue light flashing and no output to tv

was told by other mg35 owner that taking power unit out of wall socket and then out of unit wait 30 min and plug it all back in fixes his when same happens but did not work for mine. Have not recently updated or done anything else to unit. Tried it with and without harddrive attatched but no difference.

feel lost without a vital piece of equipment
will have to buy a newone if no fix can be made.

I recently added a network drive and tried the MG-35 with no Hard Drive. All I get is blue LED flash. With HD back in boots fine. Repeated couple of times always the same. Firmware 1.4.7.

I am experiencing the same problems with the blue ring flashing however nothing shows on the tele. Luckily mine is only 6 months old so hopefully still covered under warrranty. Will try and press TV/Video buttons but tried everything else and nothing has worked. I love this piece of equipment and miss not having it work!

Keep hitting the TV video button, it's probably just booted in the wrong video mode.

Might need to hit it a dozen or so times until it comes back on the screen

No blue light after boot

Yes, I've seen the ballast bad after a lamp shorts out. It takes out a 1K resistor out in ballast. If original lamp blew up this could be your issue

Won't turn on

Susan,
Dealing with overseas tech support people can be frustrating. If the laptop is only a few days old, you really need to contact them first.

Im sure its still covered under warranty, so start there first.
If it wont boot, it could be a number of things.
If you get no where with them, please post back and someone here will try to help.

Unable to watch movies

Assuming you have the latest firmware update installed (late 2008 I think) Mediagate 450HD won't play MP4 or H264 encoded files. It also won't play MKV or MWV files - there may be others but these are the file types I have encountered the same error when playing. Some MP3 music files won't play either but I have yet to investigate why this is. Solution - convert the file to standard AVI format - keep the same settings as the original file. There are a number of Windows (AVI Convertor) and Mac based programs that do this - Google is your friend. Hope this helps

Try another outlet and see if it works the same. If it still continues you shold have a technician look at it.

Flasing red light

The flashing red indicates that either the fileter cover or the lamp cover is not installed correctly. If both are installed properly and secured, the unit will require service.
