Bad disc Recently, the DVD player stopped playing discs. It either loads slowly and immediately freezes or, more often, it simply loads for a while and then says "bad disc." I have tried many discs on the player, and all of them work well on other players, and many used to play on this player.

Does not play disc

No disc. - Load a disc into the tray.
Disc has been loaded upside down. Place the disc with the label side up.
Disc region code does not match region code of the player.
Disc type is not the correct type to play.
Disc is damaged or dirty. Clean the disc or try another.
Moisture may be condensed inside the unit. Remove the disc and the leave the power on for one or two hours.

I have a Dynex DX-DVD2 DVD player which is not playing some new Verbatim 4X CD RW discs that are playing back on a much older Samsung DVD player. The CD loads okay on the Dynex and the tracks show up on...

The machine is simply not compatible with the disks that you are using. Happens.

Is it for all discs or just certain types of discs? Some DVD players simply cannot play some formats unfortunately. Often, the issue is with burned DVD-R or DVD+R discs or CD Video. Sometimes it's simply a matter of a bad burn. Refer to your manual as to the formats compatible with your player.

DVD deterioration

I would blame it on the DVD player. They are fickle when it comes to playing burned discs. Try playing the disc in your computer. If does the same thing there, the disc is garbage. You can also try burning at a slower speed, sometimes this helps. I would also try to avoid using DL (dual-layer) discs.

Tevion player shows BAD DISC,

Since the unit is under warranty, you can't touch anything without voiding the warranty. This problem could be as simple as a dirty lens. Bring the unit in for repair under warranty.

DVD Freezing / skipping

It almost has to be the discs. Try them in a friends unit.

I had a similar problem with DVD's I burned and had printed labels and put the label on the discs. It caused the disc to be out of balance. I peeled them all off (what a job) and the discs play fine now. I'm now a "magic marker" person... :)

DVD PLAYER NOT READING DISC

Well I have been repairing dvd players a while now and the main problem spots are laser ,spindle motor, laser tracking motor and the biggest culprit and un suspecting one the lens cable .....most of them range from the lens cable to the spindle motor though... the constant movement of the lens in watching a whole movie causes the cable to unknowingly and slowly break and if the spindle motor is defective ,on inserting a dvd the disc spins slowly and you may hear the lens chirping ... so you can check those....
