VR3 Amp Protection Light problem

Used this amp with my Vibrant sub for almost a year now and never had any problems until just the other day when it just cut out. The protection light had gone on. Shortly after, while I was driving I made a turn and it came back on for a couple of seconds.

I checked the sub and found a loose wire fixed it and it still had the protection light on. This didn't fix the problem. I figured there was something wrong with the earth so re-earthed it according to a Proffesionals opinion.

Now it doesn't work at all. Checked all the fuses I could find. No Problems. Checked all the wiring and no problems. When I remove the sub wires the light stays on and the same thing for the RCA's. But when I remove the remote wire it goes off.

HELP!

Looks like you have covered all the basics.

The remote wire is the switch that turns the amp on and off. So you are probably just killing the power to the amp.

Sounds like a short in the amp itself if all the input and output wires are disconnected and the protection is still coming on.

Protect Light On Amp Being Weird

Could try switching right and left subs. If the problem moves to the other side pull the wiring and redo.
Then if the wiring is ok check the sub.

My amp protection light came on one day. Now it won't turn on. What's wrong?

There is more than likely an issue with your amp, it could've happened from a wire being shorted to ground or a damaged sub causing bizarre impedance issues at your amp. Uninstal it and have it bench tested.

Red light is on and subs won't play all the wires are connected correctly it all of a sudden just stopped working one day idk y

sounds like the amp is in protection mode. try disconnecting the subs and see it the light changes to green. if it does then the subs are your problem. if the light was allways red while it was working then the subs may be disconnected inside the box or have gone bad. try using a diffrent speaker and connect to the amp.

JBL amp, worked fine untill 2 days ago. protection light on..

might have roasted your speakers voice coils a little which may be sending the amp into protect mode throw a speaker on it that you know works and if it doesnt trigger the protect circuit then you probably have a blown or almost sub.

Help!!

Disconnect your speakers and test the amp. If the protection light goes out , check your speaker wires with a meter for resistance and check the speakers for a shorted coil. Hope this helps. If you need further help, post a comment and I can help you further.

Problem with amp...

In virtually all instances where the protection light is illuminated, the amplifier has gone into protection because the output transistors are shorted. To eliminate external wiring problems do the following.

Disconnect all speaker wires from the speaker terminals of the amp and disconnect signal cables from the amp. If it powers up, the wiring needs to be checked. If it still goes into protect, the amp likely has blown output transistors.

If it does have blown outputs, it's is likely due to the speaker wires shorting together when the woofer was out of the vehicle.
