Question about GE A730 Digital Camera
If you are using a digital camera on Windows Vista, and have not loaded service pack 1 (available through Microsoft Update) there is a flaw in the Vista operating system that fails to load the basic USB drivers that are used by most digital cameras. In November of 2007, Microsoft released a specific patch to solve this problem, the patch can be found here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=51F0EF25-280B-4613-A600-C61224BACD1C&displaylang=en

General Imaging finally updated their manual for the A730 which includes more detailed information on USB connections (among other things)
I contacted customer service with respect to a problem I was having transferring pictures via USB. 3 days later they wrote back with an answer that was so stupid I swear they couldn't have read my original question.
I told them that in my reply and never heard from them again. They better get their act together cause bad news travels at eight times the speed of good news and if they're going to offer lousy support, they're not going to be in the digital camera business for long, no matter how good (or in this case bad) their products are.
Here's the link to the latest manual, you may also want to check out their "firmware update" instructions. Good luck

Usually answered in minutes!
it's windows.
When I plug in the USB cable into the camera it says connection failed. Tried on 2 different computers and it does the same thing on both. The computers are the latest windows update.
LOOKING FOR DRIVER FOR GE A730 DIGITAL CAMERA TO WORK WITH WIN98SE
how do i download pictures
so how do i get the pictures from the camera to my computer?
where can I find the drivers for this camera?
i plug in the USB cord to my computer to upload my pictures, but its doesnt work.
HELP?!
Mine is doing something similar. I connect the USB cord to my computer and camera and a window pops up saying my computer found a new hardware, but when I click next and do whatever to hopefully be able to transfer pictures onto my computer from the camera, a "Connection Failed" screen comes up on my camera.
I think all I need to fix the problem is somewhere I can download the software/hardware so I can transfer pictures from my camera onto my computer. The disk that came with my camera only lets me install a photo-editor and some Adobe-chat thing. That and quicktime which is already installed.
I don't think it should be this hard, just to transfer pictures. I mean, I actually have to SEARCH pages upon pages of google, just to find something that MIGHT help. The camera should just come with the program on a disk that lets you transfer. That's what my old Kodak was, you install the program and you're ready.
And then in the guide of the camera in real life and online on the official website, it doesn't even say anything about transferring. It just tells you how to connect the USB cord to the camera and to the computer. That's it. That doesn't help me, at all. I know how to plug things in.
Help?
