How do I assign radio stations to the preset buttons on a pioneer DEH-P2900MP

on the radio and the adapter their is a spot for the cord that connects the two the ends have different colors on them it should be purple and black just make sure the colors are matched up if they are off it will still read all the info and say its playing but no sound will come out
