Wait till the coffee pot cools down. The plastic parts get hot and that is was causes it to stick. You can put the machine in the fridge about 20 minutes, to help it cool down faster.
Also, once the grinder is off.. spray vegetable oil Pam on the shaft that you put the grinder on. That helps to stop it from sticking.
I tried this and it works.

I tied a cord around the propeller and dropped the whole unit and held the cord to pop it out. I did it gently enough that i was able to support the fall of the unit when it seperated. be careful though..that propeller is sharp.Similar to pulling teeth with a string and a door knob. =)

Cuisinart CS says to pour hot water around the outside of the grinder, that didn't help me at all. I finally used 1 foot of cord (heavy string) and made a loop, putting one end around the base of the grinder blade and then hooked the claw of a hammer in the other. Then yank up on the hammer.

It is the seal in the grinder cup that goes bad and causes the whole thing to get stuck. Not a big deal. Get a new little cup and it will be as good as new.

Get a new one. I had to pry mine out with a butter knife. After doing that only once I went on line and got a new one for 15 bucks. Problem solved. Better then 200 for a new coffee maker.
