The vhs camcorder has very complex mechanics and hold many traps for the inexperienced.

I suggest you begin by obtaining a standard vhs recorder and remove the cover to expose the interior and then study it. You will find the engineering and interior geography of your camcorder similar.
The round shiny barrel-shaped thing contains the record and playback video heads and the sound head is separate and looks like a larger version of what can be seen in a standard audio cassette recorder.

The interior must be extremely clean, the drive belts in good condition and the clutches and rubber rollers also in good order.

SOURCE: RCA cc540 VHS camcorder

Hi, Try running the camera using the AC power (charger) instead of the battery. If the viewfinder works then, it is possible that the replacement battery somehow is not suited for your particular brand/model and is not capable of supplying all the need voltages/power. Try continuously charging the battery for 16 hrs at least to see if this will correct the problem. If even in using the AC power (adapter) instead of the battery, the view finder is still off, then you have a camera fault. Normal problem for this is the thin flexible flat cable that attaches the screen to the electronics inside the camera. In some case, it is the backlight of the display that is at fault. Either which would require the services of a qualified professional. Hope this be of some help/idea to you. Good luck and kind regards.

SOURCE: need unit to put tape into, to play in vcr

What you need is a VHS C adaptor. I did a Google search and found at least 10 sites selling them. Rather than cut and paste, I suggest you go to Google and type in "VHS C Adaptor".

SOURCE: camcorder won't record

Check the tape and make sure the record tab is still on the tape and has not been removed. If the record tab has been removed then use a new tape for recording as the unit will not record. This tap is usually on the lower left end of the back of the tape. When the tap is present it closes a record mode switch letting the system know the tape is able to bv recorded on..

SOURCE: How do I upload my

You can get videos from this camera, or any analogue video source, into a computer. You just have to play them into an analogue video interface port. These are available as expansion slot cards for a PC, or sometimes as a USB plug-in interface. They will come with drivers and probably software to digitise the video input and record it to a file. Lots of third party video editing software will also be able to accept the input from this kind of port. You don't need any "driver" related to the camera, it is just a video signal source. The connecting leads will be standard RCA signal plugs, like the ones you use to connect to a TV or VHS recorder. You probably already have a lead for this.

Once you have the video on the computer, you will need DVD "Authoring" and burning software, which will usually come as part of the same package. You can download such software for free from the internet- my first stop would be www.download.com.

SOURCE: I have borrowed an old

It sounds like one of my older, been-in-storage for awhile, camcorders. When they sit for without being used fairly regularly, there is often a bit of dampness that settles into the camera. If left in a warm room, this may help dry it up and allow the open/eject function to work. To help it get un-stuck, you could gently press inward on the door (do not pry outward) and try to loosen it up. It may take a few times with this process to allow the door to jar loose.

Nikon FM10 will only release shutter with cable

Hello Blair,
I too like old school camera, mine are the N2000, N6006, N80, and F100. First without film in the camera I would attempt to release the shutter. If it does then there is something going on with the film transfer causing a bind.

However, If it continues not to release the shutter I would put the FM10 on the shelf then go to KEH.com for another. Just now checked KEH.com, 2014-05-26, a FM10 in EX condition is $89, EX+ condition $99. That would be a much better move than repairing yours and less expensive.

Cordially

This Yashica FR's film advance is loose and does not wind the film, the shutter button does not work either! It has a new battery in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if I'm miss

yashika is a really cheaply built brand of camera, they always have been. as cheap as they have gotten now you might as well come up to the digital age. but if you are one of those hard core old school photographers then you can find some good canon, nikon or pentax film cameras on ebay really cheap. i wouldn't mess with this one any more

Help!!! i have a rented vivitar film camera from school.... 3800 N..... with a dead battery!!! i can't figure out where the battery is located??

The battery compartment is on the bottom of the camera. Use a coin to turn unscrew it.

If you need one, you can download a manual from

SLR stands for "Single Lense Reflex", and yours is not reflexing, the shutter is stuck. I would say the guy that owned it before you did not know it, because to reset it manualy you have to remove the film and or the lense. To fix it you have to send the camera in for a good cleaning. "proffesonal job, lots of small tools and touchy parts"

Photography Class Camera

Hello, depending on the class he is taking you may find that a normal digital camera will suffice. Most camera classes and courses now use digital, unfortunately the old film cameras are becoming a thing of the past. If your son is a mad keen photographer then I would consider investing in his future and buy him a good quality digital SLR. I hope this is somewhat helpful.

I want to know how to rewind a film reel or reverse an Elmo FP-A movie projector. I have an old Elmo FP-A movie projector that works fine. I do not have the instruction manual that would explain how to...

There are 3 round knobs and 1 Autostart switch on the control panel. The key to rewinding this machine is by pushing the gray button down, while turning the Motor Knob to the "Run" position. Of course you'll need to start the original film back on its reel, directly. (Do not thread the film as you would normally.) BTW, you can show your films in reverse by using the Reverse button on the motor switch while its running. Hope this helps. Now, if I can find someone who can guide me in re-assembling my Elmo projector's lens, which I dis-assembled in order to clean the crud off the multi-lenses in the main lens unit itiself.

Changing battery in one600 camera

The battery is in the film pack. The one600 doesn't use any other type of battery except what comes with the film.  Either the film is really old and the battery died or it's defective.  If the film is relatively new and you haven't been able shoot all 10 shots, then you might call the manufacturer for a replacement.  Otherwise, I'd buy a new film pack.
