PDF files only print in landscape

Hello!
I have a user who's running Adobe Standard 8 who has lost his ability to print PDF files portrait style. They all come out landscape. A regular printout comes out on two sheets of paper split down the middle. This didn't used to happen and he swears he hasn't made any changes to the pc, run any updates etc. I'm stumped! I was going to try to download a Post Script driver for his printer but the HP page for what I need is unavailable. Is it worth waiting for HP to fix that page or do you think I have a different problem?
So far we have printed to different models of printers through out the company and we keep getting the same result. I really don't know what to do next. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Melissa Same with me. Just started today. Any physical printer I print to (Lexmark, HP, Xerox) networked or local, no matter what swettings for the document and/or printer preferences, it comes out LANDSCAPE!!!! Aaghhh! Very frustrating. The only way around it was to print to Micrsoft Document Imaging (MDI file). That prints portrait! And MDI to printer is ok.

Found it! The problem was that Adobe was set to print with page scaling set to Tile. Even though you see the preview as portrait (with page setup AND printer setup also in portrait), for Tile, it prints in landscape.
User said this fixed it.

Click landscape in print dialog box but only turns portrait sideways

Landscape is Portrait sideways :>D

Normally you have to tell the program (Quickbooks) to print Landscape and then you tell the Printer in Properties to print Landscape.

I just had the same in Publisher to a Canon MFP MG1720.

From the QuickBooks File menu, select Printer Setup. Click the Form Name drop-down and choose Report. Click the Options button next to the Printer name field to open your printer properties window. Go to the Finishing tab and in the Orientation section, select Portrait or Landscape.

Save QuickBooks Desktop PDF in legal size, landscape, or ...

Hp m712dn Portrait to Landscape.

What OS and application are you using? Have you installed the full product software and drivers? Get the drivers here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-laserjet-enterprise-700-printer-m712-series/5118060/model/5118226 . If you only installed the basic driver, full functionality may not be available.

For supported Windows OS versions, in the application with the file to print, select File > Print. Ensure that the destination printer is the HP Laserjet Enterprise M712d. Then click the Properties button. Go to the Finishing tab and look for the Orientation section on the right hand side of the window. Click the desired orientation and click the Apply button. Then press OK and print the document. Remember to reset this for regular Portrait printing. (The manual does not include the press Apply but I've never had that work.) See page 75-76 of the user manual (pages 85-86 of the PDF).

For Mac OS X, from the application with the file to print, choose File > Print. Select this printer in the printer menu. In the Copies & Pages menu, press Page Setup. Click the icon for the correct printing orientation. If there is an Apply button, press it. Press OK. (Note: again remember to switch back to Portrait printing when it's needed.) This is shown on page 88 of the manual (page 98 of the PDF).

The manual is available here: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-laserjet-enterprise-700-printer-m712-series/5118060/manuals . The current link to the manual is http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03244831.pdf .

I hope this helps. If the issue persists, check the application and the margin setup for the document.

Ricoh Aficio MP C3300

Go into the print driver and the machine settings and make sure the paper size and direction are all in agreement with each out and the paper in the tray itself. If screen icons do not agree with the size and direction of the paper in the tray you will have a lot of weird problems.

Pdf files only save in landscape but the publisher doc is in portrait

I don't know whether you are aware or not, before printing you can select how document should be printed(whether to be landscape or portrait) in printer properties.

Canon ir3045n - when printing the paper orientation has switched to landscape. How do we change it back to portrait?

Hello Donna,

To change the orientation of the printer from landscape to portrait follow these simple steps;

- open any document and go to print from the file menu
- when the printers settings window opens click 'properties'
- In the next up coming windows you can see menus like 'main, page setup, effects' profiles
maintenance etc.
- click 'page setup'
- There you can see 'page size' and 'orientation'
- change the 'orientation' from landscape to portrait
- click ok and print
Done : )

PDF files only print in landscape

you could just rotate your photos.

or

the settings on the printer its self may need to be reconfigured.  1) go into your computer's control panel. 2) select "printers and faxes". 3) find your printer and left click it. 4) select "properties". 5) at the top of the menu that pops up choose "advanced". 6) once you click that look for a button near the bottom that says  "Printing defaults". 7) on the side you can choose for your printer to print in portrait or landscape.

Print problems

Its probally the way your configuring the way the print file is printing (IE: portrait or landscape) portrait is the top side being 8.5" or landscape being 11" wide on top! First make sure your printer has both landscape and portrait formats loaded into your printer. This will help the you by when you go to print you can try both trays to print to. If this is not your problem then its the way driver is configured and possibly try printing to a pdf file. If you cannot create a PDF from the application try finding some trial software that will enable you to create PDF files. If you can create a good PDF file and can then print that file to your printer you will have better results, because the software your using might not be configured to work with this printer. PDF files will work great and you can see the preview before you print. If you have more info like what exact software you are using and what platform(PC or mac) and repost this question i will get the update and i can answer this question better.
