Hi, ok my Compaq CQ58 laptop is stuck on the welcome page and its loading though. I had let it sit for like 3 hours and when I came back it was the same. Does anyone know what this means and can help me??

Shut the computer down and restart it pressing F8 and select safe mode login under administrator with no password click run type msconfig, select start up, select disable, select apply, select restart, and try to boot normal. It sounds like there is a malicous code running is the background.

Or if you have enoufgh time when the computer loads quick click run and type Shutdown -a this is a shutdown about comand and it may stop it.

Let me know if any of these work and i will tell you how to fix it permanetly.

If You want test lid switch, just connect A+B together for a monent!
If the monitor flashes on...? Lid switch is faulty.
It is too dificult to change the lid switch, so the easiest way is connect these pins together forever. :))

Dont forget to turn off your notebook... he wont sleep anymore ;))

The icons you see on the function keys only work if you press the Fn key (lower left of the keyboard). Otherwise, each key functions just as it should--as a Special function key with a number on it.
