Printer will not print black ink

I have added new color and black cartridges and it will not print anything in black. It prints light blue as grey and in performing a calibration, the colors come out but are light. No black prints. The calibration using the color spectrum comes out almost light brown on everything. Please help. Thank you!

My printer will not print anything in black. It always comes out light grey. This is very frustrating simply because black is the most common color in printing. Please help!!!

This is a major issue with Kodak Easy Share's. You and I need new print heads. Go to Kodak's web site (help center) and you'll find that it is a major endimic problem with these printers. They have a diagnostic tool that eventually leads you to a form to fill out and get a new print head.

I have the same problem, My black print is always a gray., if it prints at all. Help!

Seems to be a common fault with Kodak EasyShare 5100/5300

Contact Kodak Support and go though the following tests:

Remove and re-seat Printer Cartridge(s) - Done

Clean Printhead - Done

Calibrate Printer - Test Sheet Not Complete!

Run Computer Colour Test - Done

They will then send you a new Print Head.

Hp c4480 prints blue instead of black

Check the print properties and verify the black ink cartridge still has ink in it.

Otherwise, you may have a bad ink cartridge. If the cartridge has not been used for a while, the ink gums up the nozzle. You can try cleaning the ink cartridge and slot with alcohol. However, new color and black cartridges may be the best solution.

Colours are not true, grey is brown

You are getting leakage from one color cartridge to another. Do deep cleaning and run nozzle check. You may have been using non-Cannon inks. They can corrode the ink cartridge seats due to inferrior quality ink. You may need to replace the print head. Check out Cannon web site under this printer support. Print head is in the $50 neighborhood.

Want to print with black ink cartridge only

It is a little known fact that ink cartridges do have an expiry date, and it is sometimes possible that even if a printer reads full, that it has dried out and will not print. When you recieve a warning that your ink is too low you will simply be unable to print black ink after a certain point. Generaly if you want to print in only black you will have to do that when you print a document. For instance in IE when you go to file and then print you can select prefrences and select print in greyscale or black. hope this helps!

Ink cartridge replacement

I had the same problem, and after scouring around online for a few days, I learned that this is one of the biggest gripes about this printer. Basically, you're out of luck unless you replace EVERYTHING, even though you only want to print black (nuts, isn't it?). So I went out and bought all new color cartridges, and it STILL won't print. I think it's just a bad printer all around. :(

My priter prints blue lines across all colored pictures or text.Any Idea?When printing black only,there is no problem.any colored - blue lines are added.I did reintal the drivers,used old and new but...

Have you tried cleaning the print heads or replacing the color cartridge? where as it it printing black fine it leads me to believe the problem lies in the color cartridge. my first recomendation would be to run the clean print head wizard in the printer settings and if that does not work then replace your color cartridge.

Prints grey not black

I solved this problem but probably not what the printer manufacturer would recommend! The reason you are just getting grey is that the black ink cartridge is either empty or dried out from non use and only the color cartridge is working. I had the same problem after being away for 5 months. I put the printer cartridge in a bowl of warm water to disolve the dried out ink on the print pad. I dried off the cartridge with a soft cloth and then it worked perfectly.

Problem printing with HP Business inkjet 1200 1-800-532-4187 IS SPAM

I have a HP Business Inkjet 1220 Printer, and the block ink cartridge light is flashing. I replaced the cartridge with a brand new one, closed the door, and black ink light is still flashing.
