Wireless failure My acer aspire one notebook gets a strong wireless signal, but does not let me brouse the internet because it says there is no wireless connection even though i connected properly. I reconnected numerous times, but to no avail. Could it be the Atheros card in the notebook?

I have the Acer Aspire One as well. Wireless at home was working just fine for my daughter until a few days ago. I have 2 other laptops that find my home wireless network just fine, but the Acer does not. The Acer has the Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter and Device Mgr indicates it is working properly.

Power down your wireless router for a couple of minutes, power it up again until all the LEDS indicate that it is up and running, then power up your laptop. Then see if can get on the Internet.
If you don't get into the Internet get back to me with any error messages and I will advise you what to d next.

Connecting to wireless signal is not the same as connecting to the internet. Verify the wireless router itself is connected. Your internet provider may be off line.

My Acer Aspire notebook keeps losing its internet connection. I have used 2 different routers and the signals were strong on both, so it's not that. I've also downloaded what I took to be the appropriate...

If you are using the supplied Acer program to setup your wireless, I would suggest removing the program. In most cases, removing their software does not remove the drivers, and thus, Windows Zero Configuration will take over the wireless.
WZC, in my opinion, works very reliably and has solved this type of issue in the past, although it is not the only reason for disconnects. For instance; a weak signal and a lot of interference from neighboring networks can cause your wireless to become unstable.
If this doesn't fix your connection issue, you may have an issue with the wireless card itself.

Wireless strength problem

It could be some many things.

The things that could prevent the signal from being strong are:
-Many layers of walls in your home.
-Interference from wireless phones,remote controls,radios,etc..
-Distance from your router

What company made your router, and what is the model number of it?

Can you link me to your laptop you bought from acer.com?

Also I need:
1.Computer type (laptop/desktop)
2.product name (Aspire 1300)

Thanks,
Cam
