Another stange graphic problem

Have played and finished several games all have been fine got tranformers game (utter crap) finished that, moved onto gears of war and call of juarez both of these titles have small black dots over the screen, but only over game play not titles meus etc went back to the older games call of duty 2 etc they are all fine, what could cause this the only remotely logical thing i can think of is sofware issues......last update was from transformers game please help tom

This may be an indication of the graphics processor overheating. When the card overheats it tends to leave artifacts like black dots. Newer games typically put harder stresses on consoles than older titles. This would also explain why the dots aren't showing up in menus, menus don't require as much juice as game play. I would blow out the system with some canned air and try playing the system in a cool, well ventilated area to see if that helps. Sometimes this can be a permanent issue with the graphics processor and you would need to send it in to Microsoft.
