I think "Cartridge short" is refering to a short circuit to the ink cartridges, remove them and clean the contacts, and try again, if this persists try replacing the cartridges

Printer stops printing while data still in buffer

I would suggest the porblem may be associated with Bi-Directional Communication.

Bi-Directional Communication can be turned off on the 6312 in the following way;

o Set the printer to Offline.

o Press the Enter and LF keys together for approx 3 - 4 seconds. The alarm will sound. (Tech Access On)

o Press the Mode key: display will show Offline Normal.

o Press any Arrow key until display shows Offline Config.

o Press the Forms/1 key.

o Press any Arrow key until display shows Config Paralel.

o Press the CPI/2 key.

o Press any Arrow key until display shows Paralel Bi-Dir.

o Press the LPI/3 key.

o Press any Arrow key until display shows Bi-Dir Off.

o Press the Enter key and the interface will be set.

o Press the Clear key.

o Press the Enter and LF keys together for approx 3 - 4 seconds. The alarm will sound. (Tech Access Off)

o

This would need to be saves to your configuration so this setting is not lost when you power the printer OFF, of if the printer is reset.

You should also be able to access a Web Page on the Axis Print Server and will be able to change paralle interface settings set this to Uni Directional or disable Bi-Directional Communication

Message reads "cartridge short press power key"

The error indicates that one or both of the cartridges has a short circuit. Please follow the steps below to identify and fix the problem:

1. Make sure the printer is on.

2. Open the printer cover. The print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless the All-in-One is busy.

Note: If the carrier does not automatically move to the center, turn off the printer/unplug the printer from the power source and then slide the carrier to the center.

3. Remove both cartridges from the carrier.

4. Close the printer cover.

5. Rebrick (pull out power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds).

6. When the printer turns on, reinsert one cartridge first.

7. Close the printer cover and check for any errors.

8. If no error appears, reinsert the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.

9. Replace whichever cartridge is causing the error to appear with a new cartridge.
If problem continues, please contact Lexmark Technical Support Center for additional assistance.
