try to insert your CD in another PC and open it from my computer by clicking start/my computer/right click CD/DVD drive/click open or explore/copy the files inside of the CD installer including the setup.exe and the driver into USB flash drive.then insert your flash drive on your PC.open it double click the setup.exe or the driver folder.inside the driver folder should have an exe to install the software.

replace the dvd drive. there about $35. open the console and remove the dvd drive, buy the exact same one. you can avoid having to flash the drive by taking apart the old drive and removing the com board inside and putting it in the new drive.

Sounds to me like you busted a main drive belt not making any noise from the engine ? just stopped moving if this is correct then you probably looking @ around 45-50 dollars for new belt advanced auto has alot of belts for riding mowers they can assist you with replacing the correct size belt for you mtd.also they can be inexpensive as well on the price of the belts.

new ones are under $50 now. Just replace it. You must make sure you get one with the same cable connection though. Take the old one with you. There are two different types.

Replace the rubber belt inside. That rubber belt keeps other rotating parts inside to move faster as the motor is running, replaced it with a tight one so that when your insert a cd the optical inside can easily read your cd. The optical lens need to run with as a desired speed of your ROM xspeed.

Put a new gear belt and replace the old and tired belt inside.

the drive needs cleaning

use a DVD/CD Cleaner disk to clean the lens.

Assuming you have tried different makes of cd or dvd disks, it's a classic drive failure problem where the laser can no longer burn or read dvd's, but may still be able to read cd's only. You will have to replace the drive, they are quite inexpensive, and very easy to fit.
