Help Me! how can i hook it up to a dish box and the tv at the same time so i get dish then switch it to the vcr/dvd? thank you

The output of the Dish Network box should be hooked to the input of the VCR.
The output of the VCR should be hooked to the input of the TV.
The VCR should be on channel 3 to record. Select channel to be recorded on the Dish Network box.

It sounds like you have Dish Network box output hooked to TV input.
& VCR output hooked to an aux. input on the TV.

In order to diagnose the problem I need your help.

Have you hooked the dish receiver directly into a tv or another device and had it working?

Have you tried a different cable at all?

Have you tried pressing the ant. button on the remote or tv/vcr button?

Please update me with as much info as possible and I will figure out where the problem is coming from. thanks

You wire the antenna to Dish receiver then to Go Video then to TV.

If I understand your request right, You do not have cable or satellite box.
You can not record from your TV. You use the TV as a monitor from the dvd/vcr combo box. What the box receives is what shows on the TV. So you will have to have a digital convertor hooked to the (antenna in) dvd/vcr combo box, (antenna out to the tv antenna in) Depending on the antenna you are using that is on the other end of your cable-in coax connection this will hook to your antenna in on the digital convertor box. If your cable is hooked up and operating correctly and directly to the tv that is digital ready you probabbly have a good picture. When the vhf/uhf signal was transmitted you could go from the dvd/vcr to the tv with no problem. But now that the signal is digital and the tv is set for digital the dvd/vcr will not pass a digital signal to the tv. Best suggestion, you have to get a digital dvd/vcr receiver. how do you have the combo connection and dish network hooked to the tv ? if you have an s-video , yellow RCA jack video or component video hooked to the same input then it will act this way, because two inputs cannot be on the same video input # on the tv.
is this what is happening? or how are you connecting it?

Without knowing the actual ports on each of these devices, all I can suggest is that have you tried connecting your DVD to the Dish box (thru VCR scart connection at the back of the Dish box) and then the Dish box into your modulator (and then modulator into your tv.

I have a similar system set up but we have a Sky Digital box here, no idea if its the same as a Dish box but im assuming so.

Yes you can first connect the converter box to the antenna first. Next hook the tv out on converter box to vcr in on vcr. Next hook the vcr out to the tv in and watch vcr and converter box on channel 3 sometimes channel 4.on the actual tv and of course change channels with converter box remote. For dvd player hook it straight to tv with red,white,and yellow cables that come with your dvd player. Then to watch dvd player if it's hooked up that way you have to put your tv on a input like video 1 or input 1. This can be done by using the tv remote and looking for a button that says tv/video or input or source button. This is some common names for that button on tv remotes.

should go from your satellite to dish box might say sat on bck of box then the next [connection think says tv that should go to tv itsself or dvd vcr whatever ur hooking up to it then from that point hook it to ur tv

Unhook the dvd cables from the AV1 ports on the tv. Then hook these DVD outputs to the inputs on the vcr. Then hook the vcr outputs to the tv inputs (AV1). The tv and the vcr must then be set to channel 3 in order to watch the dvd (and possibly also some menu settings such as setting everything to "component video" and/or setting the tv/vcr button to "vcr. Also set all "3 or 4" switches on the back of all equipment to channel 3. Also, don't forget to go into your tv menu and choose AV1 when you want to watch the dvd and/or the vcr.
You can also try connecting your dish to the vcr and then the vcr to the input on the tv where you HAD the dish connected. There are several combinations you can try, but just remember to always put output cables to the INPUTS of the next piece of equipment in line, and set your menu settings appropriately on all equipment whenever you change from one machine to the next.
If all this fails, then here is a 100% positive solution. Buy an "A/B" switch. It has two inputs and only one output. You could leave the dvd connected as is and connect the dish and the vcr to the two inputs on the A/B switch. Then hook the one output of the A/B switch to the tv. When you change the position of the A/B switch back and forth, you will be changing over back and forth from dvd to vcr. You can move the A/B input selection switch manually or you can buy a remote controlled A/B switch and do your switching with the remote that comes with the switch.

Hook the DVD Combo unit to the Video input of the TV. Not through your Dish Box. Then to View the DVD/VCR, switch the TV to the Video Input. Good Luck and have a great weekend
