I tried to load the new 2008 City Navigator but the update was interrupted.
When I turned the unit back on and tried to enter an address, I received this error message"No Map Data Available"
Can anyone help? Thanks Paul

Re: map data availability
"I tried to load the new 2008 City Navigator but the update was interrupted."
You deleted your previous maps, therefore there are no maps on the unit. Try reloading the maps again and this time let it continue all the way to the end. It will take a couple of hours depending on loading all maps or only certain states.

After powering up the unit and selecting address, the unit displays, "In What State is the Address? and Spell State. When I press Spell State, it has No Matches Found. When I press Back and attempt to enter the first letter of any state, the unit displays "No Matches Found".
How long has it been since you've updated the maps on the unit? You may have gotten a message stating your maps were over a year old, and recommending you update them. The address in Tyler may have been too new for the unit if the maps have not been updated recently also. If this is not the case, you should be aware that some addresses may show as being in a different city due to ZIP code status. For instance, you may know an address to be in a certain town/city, but it may show as being in a neighboring town in the unit as they share a ZIP code. If you cannot find an address in your GPS, go back to the beginning and re-enter the address. When it comes to the city, however, try, "Search All". See if this helps.
How are you trying to locate the addresses? Sometimes an address is not listed in the unit the way you think it should be. If you cannot find an address, go to the beginning to re-enter it. When it asks the city, press "Search All" instead of entering the exact city. It might be listed as being in a nearby city or town, due to the ZIP code. See if this helps.
If the unit is showing you a different address than what you are looking for, it is possible it does not recognize the address you entered as being in the city you entered. Sometimes the address in the unit is listed as being in a different/nearby city (due to a ZIP code classification, for example). Go back to the main screen and try entering the address again. Instead of selecting the city, try "Search All". Then enter the rest of the address. Let me know if this helps.
I'm quite sure you need to purchase the 2009 City Navigator SD card to update the maps. That what I did last year to get the 2008 City Navigator maps. You will need to leave the SD card in the unit to use the new maps though..
I haven't been able to determine whether it's possible to update the actual install map on the device. I'm guessing it's possible but would require a computer and an map update to write directly to the device. If I find steps to update the installed maps, I will post them here.
Turn on the Garmin. Look for the little wrench on the screen and select it. Now look for Map, select Map. Now look for "Map Info", select Map Info. Verify that there is a check mark next to City Navigator North America NT
From your Where to?/View map screen press on the box wrench to access the settings menu. Once at the settings menu press Map, then press Map Info and you should see that you have City Navigator North America NT v8 or whichever one is loaded.
